Recent post on the Rent Board - control over points

I saw a post today on the rent board for someone wanting to rent out their points...no big deal so far, but...

The post went on in great length about what they were offering and how DVC worked and they stated that the "buyer" of the points would have total and complete control over the points just like the DVC member did including reselling the points and banking the points.

Did DVC suddenly change the rules on who "owns" the contracts and who has control over reselling, booking reservations and banking ?? am I missing something here ?

Sounds like they were advertizing a transfer rather than a rental...

No, DVC hasn't changed the rules.

Nothing's changed, but it's hard to really comment without reading the actual post. If you provide a link, folks would have a better idea what the story was.

1) I require 50% upfront & 50% 90 days before your check-in date. I will provide you with my name, address, home & cell numbers. I will also provide you with a rental contract that basically allows you to control the points used as if they were your own. This means, you can resell them, change reservations, bank them, etc. I will still own the points (unless I transfer them to another DVC member), but you will have the same flexibility with the points as I would have."

Could it be that the poster is offering someone a chance to be an "associate member"? Doesn't that designation give the person the right to call and make reservations?

Only thing I can think of at the time.
