Recent experiences with morning EMHs??

For our August 6-12th trip, I have followed the recommendations of Josh at Easywdw and generally avoided the parks with EMH. However, I'm rethinking! Specifically, I can see how on a hot, summer day it is better to do more early and take advantage of the cooler temps. How have the crowds been recently during morning EMH? Any comments would be appreciated!

We were there two weeks ago and did morning EMH at MK and DHS. At both parks we found them to be a good use of our time. We rode Tot and RnR on Standby before 9 at DHS, and at MK we walked right on Buzz and Haunted Mansion when it opened. However, if your ride priorities are not in Fantasyland or Tomorrowland, you may not find the MK EMH as useful. We were somewhat surprised that no other lands were opened between 8 and 9. Morning crowds weren't awful either. About the same as usual.

You can use the fact that the other lands are not open to your advantage though and get 2 rope drops. Hit up 3 or 4 rides in FL/TL and then 3 or 4 things in the rest of the park the second hour. You mentioned you walked on HM. Is it open for EMH?

No. Haunted mansion wasn't open for emh. However that is where we did use the second rope drop to our advantage. We waited for the 900 rope drop just above HM and we were in one of the first groups to ride.

I don't understand. Are you saying only Fantasyland was open for EMH? I thought the point of EMH was an extra hour throughout the entire park?

Fantasyland and Tomorrowland only during AM EMH.

It's my understanding that Easy WDW sometimes recommends parks with AM EMH, but says to avoid parks with PM EMH. The logic is that most folks won't get up early to take advantage of AM EMH, but many will stay late to take advantage of PM EMH. Those who visit PM EMH will show up sometime before the EMH, thus making the park extra crowded on PM EMH. I think his recommendations also are based on who has EMH the day before, because the logic is most people will take advantage of EMH and won't repeat the same park the next day.

Josh usually says you CAN get a lot done in morning EMH *if* you get there before rope drop *and* you Hop somewhere else after the morning. Think his concern is for people who have "good intentions" to get there early but don't, and also for folks off resort and folks who don't have park hoppers. Otherwise morning EMH can be great...

Yes, I do remember reading that on his recommendations. Get there on time or it won't be much or an advantage at all! Thanks
