Just called DCL to request a specific dining room restaurant rotation:

APL

"Flo" said there is no such thing and APL, LAP or PLA rotations, that everyone on the ship could have a different rotation.

She also said that for the past six months there has not been a set formal or semi-formal night.

I have never seen anything else but (on the Magic) Mondayand Thurs. as the formal and semi-formal nights (even though they flip-flopped which is which).

She said whenever your at Lumieres is your formal night.

This doesn't agree with anything I've read here or anywhere else.

Has anyone had a Formal or Semiformal night NOT be on Mon or Thurs?

All help appreciated.

Jim

Jim,

We had the APL rotation in August, and our formal night was Sunday and semi-formal was Thursday, we were on the Eastern route. We had our formal night dinner in Parrot Cay, and our semi-formal dinner in Lumieres.

Thanks Andy!

Any one else?

Especially recent western Magic people.

Jim

The August 16th Western sailing had formal night on Monday and semi-formal night on Thursday. We also had the LAPLAPL dining rotation which was printed on our KTTW card as usual.

Seems odd that a CM would give you that (mis)information Jim.

Unless things are being radically changed, I would assume that she was incorrect.

We were on the 10/11 Western and had the LAP rotation. Formal Night (for everyone...not just our rotation) was on Monday night. Semi-Formal Night (again, for everyone) was on Thursday night. These two nights correspond to the days at sea. The formal nights on the Eastern route also correspond to two of the days at sea. I believe DCL does this on purpose so you will have more time to get ready and not be off the ship on excursions.

Also, on the Western, you will be in the same restaurant for both Formal and Semi-Formal nights. For us it was Parrot Cay.

I have a gut feeling that Flo doesn't know what she's talking about.

Sounds to me like you spoke with a castmember who is not very up to speed on the cruises. Have you tried calling back and speaking with someone else or a manager?

Yes, I have called back. I was told there are indeed APL rotations.

Did not ask about the formal semi-formal thing, as I knew you guys would have the right scoop.

It was the certainty with which FLO spoke that got me.

Trust, but verify!

Jim

I think your cast member was confusing the Wonder and the Magic.

On the Wonder, the "Jackets Requested" (not actually formal) evening is whichever eveing you're in Triton's.

On the Magic Eastern, the fancy nights are Sunday and Thursday. On the Magic Western, the fancy nights are Monday and Thursday. That's because Sunday is a day at Sea on the Eastern, but Sunday is a day (and evening) in port on the Western.

There are exactly three rotations on the Magic, regardless of whether it's an Eastern or Western cruise -- APLAPLA, PLAPLAP, and LAPLAPL.

I think Horace has it right.

Even though I said "I'm on the seven night western Magic cruise"

But once she had it in her head, she wouldn't let it go.

Three restaurants, three rotations. What a concept.

Thanks all.

I thought I was on the "whine".

Jim

You want any cheese with that 'whine'....? ;) LOL, j/k

Yes Jim, it sounds as if Horace has it right, sounds right anyways!

Good luck!

Jim when you phoned disney back were you able to request the rotaion you wanted?

Lynn,

No. But that was because I booked through a travel agent. The 2nd agent did confirm this and she even tried.

So I have a message in to her about it.

If you booked directly through DCL, you could request it, but no gaurantee.

Jim

Jim and Lynn - I'm confused -

No. But that was because I booked through a travel agent. The 2nd agent did confirm this and she even tried.

You can't request the rotation because you booked with a TA??

The 2nd agent - the 2nd CM? You have a message to the TA?

It seems that we should be able to do that directly with DCL - we could book excursions directly with DCL and not have to use the TA.

Do I have to call the TA with the reservation numbers to link us together?

Lynn, will pm you with my ressie numbers - still haven't heard back from Dawn -
