Anyone eaten at the Beaches & Cream restaurant since the recent remodel? I’ve heard it’s not the same experience since it reopened and the food is not as good. I’m hoping this isn’t true!
The major difference that immediately struck me was the increased noise level, when B&C was at full capacity. Dinner on a Sunday night, sitting at a banquette against the back wall, was just about unbearable. There was a table across the way with three kids and four adults; the kids and adults were so noisy and unruly that you wished you had earplugs. Until their food was delivered, the kids would not sit still and instead of speaking to each other, everyone shouted - including the adults. When the food arrived, things quieted down somewhat. I asked the server if it was unusually loud that night, and the response was that dinner time is normally very loud; the CM also said that it was impossible for the servers to get the noise out of their heads after work, even when driving home. The finishes are all hard surfaces, and the sound really reverberates.
As a regular at B&C for years, I miss the old set-up, but I also realize that Disney had no choice, but to expand, based on the demand.
As for the food, I thought that the old items on the menu were better than the new ones.
Don’t be surprised if you have a wait when checking in for a peak time reservation; it’s been somewhat difficult to get the food out promptly, when at capacity, so the tables don’t turn over as quickly as planned
After a bad (and very noisy) dinner with mediocre food, I thought I would not return. However, I did a walk-up for an early lunch and thought it was much better. The food was promptly brought out, was very good, and I enjoyed a much more quiet environment; it reminded me of B&C before the expansion and refurb.
At slower times, the environment and service are so much better. If you don’t care about time of day, I suggest going slightly off-peak, for a more enjoyable dining experience.
My “slightly off-peak” time was at about 11:30 in the morning for an early lunch, before heading out to MCO. As a matter of fact, the server nicely packed up my leftovers, which I finished at the airport, before catching my flight back home...it was much better than the typical airport food!I completely agree about the noise. It was loud. Especially when a toddler across the restaurant had a tantrum, everyone could hear it. It might be a tougher place for kids with sensory issues from loud noises, but we’ve grown accustomed to Disney restaurants being loud.
We’ve only been 3 times, but given how hard it is to snag a reservation, is there such a thing as slightly off-peak?
We were there today for a 3:20 reservation for 3 people and waited until 3:50 to be seated. Outside of a few empty tables pushed together that were obviously being held for a larger group, the place was at capacity.
We recently ate there and thought the food was good. Our service was really bad. Our waitress said she had an issue with another table and their bill that she had to redo several times. My wife and kids ended up leaving because of how long things were taking and i got the kids ice cream to go (it took about 20 minutes after dinner to get the desert). The service wouldn’t keep us from coming back though. It’s a great option if you are staying in that area.Anyone eaten at the Beaches & Cream restaurant since the recent remodel? We also saw service and timing of meals all over the place at this restaurant. Normally I don’t pay attention to that but once you’re service starts to be in question you start looking around. We just ate there last week. It was our first time so I have nothing to compare it to, but we were unimpressed. It was incredibly loud and the service was appallingly bad. I was hopeful at least the sundaes would be epic but I guess I have a different idea about what "drenched with a topping of your choosing" means than they do, and I watched them make my sundae about 10 minutes before they actually brought it over so it was half-melted when I received it. (It was an unusual sundae so I knew it was mine and one of the toppings was hot.)
It took an hour and a half for us to order, receive, and pay for 4 sundaes. In that time we saw other tables all over the map, some getting served faster, some just as slow, and then when we paid our bill had to be redone because she ran our card on another table's bill. We don't plan on going back.
