Rebooting a Magic Band

Hi all-- My family had our first experience using Magic Bands during our November trip, and it was mostly a pretty good experience. The one problem we had with the bands was the blue Mickey heads that would come up when my ten year old would scan his band. We assumed it was due more to user error than a problem with the band (primarily, him causing the initial problem scanning wrong when entering the park), mostly because it wasn't consistent (blue Mickeys about 70% of the time), and would eventually go green after a few tries. On our last day-- actually, our last hour in the parks-- a CM suggested having his MB rebooted. We didn't bother then, since we were about to leave, but we're making a special one-day trip for the 24 hour day, and I want to make sure everything's working as it should.

So first question-- has anyone had experience having their MB rebooted, and was it helpful? And secondly, where can we have it done? I'm betting on the My Magic+ Service Center at Town Square Theater being the place to go, but is there anywhere else in the park? Anything else I should know?

Many thanks!

First I've heard of this.

A more common situation would be getting a replacement band.

Agree with Dan that GR can help, but I don't think they are literally "rebooted". That implies a level of sophistication that just isn't there.

They are totally sealed and the part that works with the Mickey Head stations is completly passive.

If there is a problem they would just replace the band.

Thanks all! Any idea if they'd be able to replace it with the same color (red), or if he'd have to go with standard issue gray?

They have all of the colors available now.

Last trip, mine wouldn't work a couple of times no matter how much we tried.
There were CMs standing back behind the entry with I-Pads that twice did something that reset it and then it was fine. (I did have to show ID for those times....so good to have it with you).

There is nothing within the bands that can be reset or rebooted. It either works or it doesn't. Think of the band as a credit card. If it doesn't work, it's because the magnetic strip has been damaged or because there's a problem with your account or with the CC company's computer system, not because your credit card itself needs to be reset.

The CMs with iPads most likely did something to your MDE account. They didn't reset the band itself.
