I know that there is a fuel surcharge which I believe is in effect for new bookings from the end of may.

Does anyone know, if you book now (before the fuel surcharge) and then change your reservation to a different date after the surcharge has been implemented - will the fuel surcharge apply to the new dates? That is assuming that the fuel surcharge is still in existence at that point.

Just curious...

That's a good question. JMO But... I'd "GUESS" it would apply to the new dates. I say that just because even though you can keep your booking credits when you change dates you still have to pay any diffrences in cruise costs including if the rate increased or anything else applied to that new date (port fees or what not). BUT again...I did just say I was GUESSING...I really don't know.

I just rebooked on the May 3rd Western. Kylie made a point of telling me that if I were to move the booking date that the fuel surcharge would most definitely be applied.

Yep, I called to ask about adding one person to an existing reservation and the agent I spoke to made sure I was aware that the fuel surcharge would be added to everyone on the ressie, not just the person being added.

yep, we rebooked on board, and I didn't even know about the fuel surcharge untill Kylie mentioned it. She said something like being lucky we are doing it now before the fuel surcharge, etc. She did mention that if we moved our cruise date by the end of May we *would* be paying it.

Wow, I think that's a bit steep.

I figured it probably would apply. No point rushing to book another one now then....

Do you mean "IF" you waited to add that person after the 28th? OR are you saying that no matter what it WILL be added to everyone on the reservation?? It was my understanding that if you were booked before the 28th on any cruise after that then you wouldn't be subject to the fuel surcharge???

It was only if the extra person was added after the fuel surcharge began.
I was just a little surprised when they said it would be applied to everyone on the reservation, not just the added person.

Probably something to do with computer programing though. I bet it's one of those things where the charge either has to be applied to everyone in the stateroom or to no one.

As long as you have your reservation all set and deposits in by the 28th you should be good to go.

how much is the fuel charge?

"Due to continually rising fuel prices, Disney Cruise Line® is implementing a fuel surcharge.

The surcharge is $8 per person, per day for the first two Guests in a stateroom and $3 per day for all other Guests. It is effective for new bookings made on or after May 28, 2008. Additionally, the surcharge will be capped at $112 each for the first and second Guests in a stateroom and $42 each for all other Guests in the stateroom."
