I had received a special past guest offer back around October last year to book through June of 2020. I booked a studio villa at copper creek, room only, booked our flights and we were ready to roll. Then... well we all know what’s going on these days.
So I’m an er nurse. Guess who probably won’t be able to go to Disney in June. So today myself and the friends who were going at the same time decided to push our trip back to August. I attempted to change my room online but my code is not good for those dates. I called and spoke with guests services and was told there’s nothing they can do.
I was able to book a studio villa with the sun and fun package, but am now paying almost $500 more for our 7 night stay. That really sucks. Luckily I am working unlike so many others who are likely going to have to cancel because of layoffs. But the $500 isn’t chump change either.
I just wish in these extenuating circumstances Disney would honor their previous discounts. I’m not going to cancel our vacation over this. Work is so stressful I need something good to look forward to.

Well, I m glad youre confident about an August trip. I’m not re-booking for 2020 at all, at this point. $500 isn’t pennies, I agree, but is what it is. Hope your trip is exactly as you envision it!
Thx for the work you do as well. One that now seems to finally be getting the acknowledgment it rightly deserves.

I have a mid May cruise on the fantasy that hasn’t been cancelled and I know with 100% certainty that my family won’t be on. Disney has said I can cancel and rebook with a 100% credit. The same cruise for the same week next year is $1600 more for my family of 4. Disney just expects me to pay it. I can’t get a refund at this point, so we are just hoping the whole cruise is cancelled soon.

Most likely it will be.

Sorry. Thanks for your hard work. 500 dollars is a lot for most people but I’m sure you are raking in the $$$$. One day overtime should cover it. Thanks again for your hard work your going to need a vacation.

I'm booked in August as well, but I'm thinking about changing it because the crowds are going to be so much worse with everyone re-booking before the next school year. I work in health care as well (ICU nurse) so I'm limited to certain weeks left available. Thinking perhaps October or the beginning of Nov. I haven't bothered to price anything yet because I know I'll be paying a lot more. I agree the previous discount should be applied. $500 is a lot of souvenirs one could buy ;)

Thanks for the long hours and truly unappreciated work that you are doing..Please stay safe 1st & foremost.
2ndly You might be entitled to a special deal, like what was just recently done for the mid Mar-May 30th reservations...They were offered the FD. So depending on how this plays out, and if indeed things do get extended, I would just hold onto that og. Resv. # for it might still come in handy.

We too have a late June trip planned(ours is DVC) & I'm sure the points will get put back into UY, but I'm hoping our flights do as well...We have a Oct/Nov trip lined up as well, but we're not pulling the trigger on those flights yet until we know what's happening with the late spring/summer.

Here's to hoping this Pandemic has better things to do, and we start turning the tides on it..
Once again, thank you for your work:worship: and good luck with your future booking..

We have a June trip planned and I haven’t booked a back up trip due to the horrible rates being offered for fall right now. We could fly to London for 8 days cheaper than a week at Disney. I’m talking about $1,500 cheaper.
Disney knows we still want our Disney fix + few of us have the stomach to travel internationally this year... 😔 (and isn’t August a pretty high demand time?)

Fall is usually higher demand than august. October in my opinion is the busiest time at Disneyland outside of the Xmas/NYE week.

Edit: I also went to WDW this past year in both early August and the last week of October. October was busier than August.

Very true. I mixed up their trip with OP’s switch to August.

Ack! So many trips rescheduled these days 😔 and it seems like Disney comes out ahead on every one. Magic that 🙄

ER's are super slow in a lot of hospitals and busy in others. When I left Sunday night we had 5 patients in the ED.

exactly. I work for a hospital and even nurses are being sent home right now. We are waiting for the peak to hit and in the meantime the hospital is very slow. Especially the ER because no one wants to expose themselves unnecessarily. So most things people would just run to ER or urgent care for, they are instead calling their PCP for meds or a telemedicine visit.

Right now my department is being forced to use 8 hours of PTO a week through the month of April. That will be cutting into my summer vacation time if we are back to “normal” by summer. If it goes into May it’s going to really cut into any time off for the summer. Some departments are being forced to use 16 hours of PTO a week or take the 16 hours in unemployment benefits.

So even for those who have the money to vacation, they may not have the available time to even take off.
