Rebel Alliance Roll call

I'm ready for Spring here too! The kids had a two hour delay for school this morning because we got 2-3 inches of snow overnight.
So after all the running around with the morning schedule messed up, I managed to get out for a run alone. My husband usually goes in a little late on Wednesdays so we can get a morning run in midweek but the weather goofed that up today!
I didn't even take my dog on my run and now he is sulking!
It was nice though, sunny and 37 degrees. The snow melted on the asphalt walkways so things were pretty clear. I felt great! I discovered that I push myself a little harder when I'm alone.
ran 3.12 mi on 2/3/2010 at 12:47 PM with a pace of 10'44"/mi http://nikerunning.nike.com/n/r/en_US/2014009936/947067571/?sitesrc=fbk_ab_plus
Thought I'd post that Nike thing if anyone still wants to check it out.
Hope everyone is having a good week and the snow lets up a little to let everyone outside!
~Barb

Barb - We had very similar runs today. Mine was 3.24 miles with a pace of 9:22 min/mile. I had 5 minute running intervals again today followed by 1 minute of walking. I found a road nearby that's nice and wide, since I have to run in the road because of the all the snow on the sidewalks. I don't know where I'll run Saturday if we get all the snow they're calling for.

Here's the link to my runkeeper account if anyone wants to check it out or see my runs. http://runkeeper.com/user/jsun/activities

Wow, am I wiped out! I did the morning swim session 6:30 to 7:30 and then did a run (4 miles). It was tough after the swimming. Nice coach for swimming, got good feedback from him and less people in the pool at that time of day. So despite the fact that I am NOT a morning person, I think that will be the session I go to. I really feel like I'm in triathlon training now.

Well, I got 2 miles before I had to stop because of my stupid hamstring. I definitely could have gone further, but I didn't want to push it too hard. If I hurt myself too badly, I won't even be able to start the Princess. So I will take it a little slower than I'd like.

j-sun - We just got 4 inches as well and are expected to get snow all weekend long. I am thinking I will be putting on my Yaktraxs and running out in the snow because it is going to be warm (29°). I always try to run outside as long as it is above 0°. If it does get to be too much...I too will be on my treadmill this weekend.

Bring on spring!!!

mandac - Sorry about your migraine. I used to get them and am so glad that I don't anymore. That is a lot of running around in circles to get in the miles at the track! I would not keep track of the laps either!

Barb - Way to go - sounds like you had a great run! I love your Nike link...it is what inspired me to go out and get my Nike+. I will post my link when I get a few more runs in. My pace is pretty slow right now but I am working hard to make improvements.

I would have loved a snow delay! Our morning drives have been horrible this week from the snow - lots of accidents! Only thing is...we don't really get snow days...even when we get a foot or more at a time!

That relay for the Wine & Dine sounds great! I love how you would plan on being at the end with the wine!!! My first race at Disney World will be the Princess in 2011. Would love to get there sooner but I have a lot of training to do before that point!

Andrea - I actually love my treadmill. It is so nice on days where the temperatures are too cold or when the roads are so icy or when I just don't want to go out. I am like you...throw on the TV or play something good on my iPod and I am off.

I about died laughing when I read about how it snowed on Saturday and they are still canceling school! :rotfl2: I think several states should send representatives to Minnesota to see how we handle the snow...just drive through it! We got 4" two days ago and they did not plow the streets for ages (we are cutting back on plowing due to budgets). Still, people go out and drive the posted speed limits! I still went out and ran! I think I need to move from this state because I could use some snow days!

I hope that your hamstring begins to feel better.

Joy - I would love your weather right now!!! Actually, I love the warm days of winter. It has just been interesting learning how to run in it all.

Tiffany - Nice workout today! It sounds like your swim session is going to be a good fit for you!

Today was a rest day for me. I decided that I would take it kind of easy and even let myself sleep in today. It was great because I am fighting a cold. Tonight I did pilates and the Wii Fit. I am now going to have a low fat smoothie and head to bed. Have a great night everyone!

Good evening.
I went for a short run this morning and it was beautiful. 10F, sunny no wind and no cars on the road. Cannot ask for more.

J-SUN: Where do you live to get all that snow? I live in Québec where we should get a lot of snow and the most we had in January is about 3" this Monday and I used my snowblower just for the fun of it.

It is pretty quiet at work tonight and I have 3 more hours to go. Lucky for me that I am not pay by our busy we are :upsidedow.

Hi all. I just wanted to let everyone know that I have asked Andrea to step in as a team leader. With a wife on bed rest (possibly until June) and trying to write a book with my father, I can't dedicate the time to the team that I feel would be fair to all of you. As I am sure you all know, she will do a great job.

I will still be on the team though.

Anyway, let me give a little bio:
I have been a WISH member since 2006 with my first race being the '06 RFTT. I then did the '07 marathon and was terrible jealous of the Goofy Runners. That third medal was really pulling at me so I did the '08 and '09 Goofy. This year I skipped because of money and next year is up in the air still. In mid November I started a running streak of at least a mile a day and the goal is 1 year. I probably average about 2.75 miles a day with my current longer runs in the 4.5 mile range. I want my body to adapt to running every day gradually and then start doing some more longer runs.

Here is a link to my DIS running journal. It is disney focused but there is more in there too.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1303681

Take care all and I hope to see everyone more than I have been.

Andrea: The track is harder for me, but I do it for DH. He hates the treadmill. So if I want him to come out with me I go to the track. Hopefully it will be starting to be nice enough weather for us to run outside soon. That is way more fun. Thanks for taking over as captain. I appreciate the work that will go into that. You are great! Sorry about the hamstring. Good choice not to push it too hard. Hope it gets better soon.

Joy: You made me smile. I wish I could complain about 55 being cold. I am looking forward to a nice warm 40 degree day today.

J-sun: You are all so fast! Very impressive. That is a cool website for tracking your runs. I love to see the stats and such for my runs. I use my garmin, but I still just have the info on my computer. I hear there are websites that will read the data from the watch, but I never bothered to find them.

Tiffany: Sounds like a crazy good workout. I can’t imagine running after swimming! Awesome.

Jen: We don’t get snow days either. I guess they assume we all should be used to it by now. But there are some mornings when I am sure it isn’t safe for everyone to be out before the plows. Hope you don’t catch the cold – good luck fighting it off.

Diane: Glad you had a good run. That sounds cold, but beautiful.

Scott: Sounds like you have a lot going on! Glad you are still on the team. That is a great goal, to do at least a mile a day for a year. I may have to steal that from you. Goals and streaks keep me going!

AFM: I was running all around shopping last night, so I didn’t save time for exercise. I told myself that if I had dinner before 7 I could get on at 8 and still get an hour in, but I didn’t. I ended up playing video games with my DH. Oh well. I tried to make up for it by getting up this morning to exercise, something I have been trying to do for a while, but I have just been too tired. I did get up at 6 and put 4 miles in on the treadmill before work. I hope to do some more tonight when my DH goes to play basketball with the guys.

On the eating front I did horrible yesterday. I started good, and I don’t know if it was stress, TOM, or what, but I just couldn’t resist the candy! Then when I got home from shopping we flipped on the TV to the food network (I should know better) and it was a Bobby Flay Throwdown – they were doing brownies! So what did I do, I ran upstairs and made a pan of brownies. I only ate one, and only made a small pan, but with everything added together it was a really bad eating day. I still wrote it all down and I am ready to put it behind me and do better today.

It's sad, isn't it? Here the adults are working with a 2-hour delay on Monday, and the kids didn't get back to school until Thursday! All of the adults are saying WTH to each other! And get this - they're expecting a storm again this weekend and the governer has already declared a state of emergency. There goes school for another 3 days! Of course the kids aren't thinking about making these days up, the parents are. And we are planning on leaving town the day after school ends, so I hope they don't extend the school year.

Thanks for the welcome, Manda. I hope to do Scott proud, and be here for everyone who wants a team surrounding them. We started out kind of small and quiet last year, but I want us to develop into a friendly and vocal group who are good friends and support each other every day.

My hammy feels much better today. I think it was wise of me to to push it too hard yesterday. I will go a little farther today and make sure I am still moving while not overdoing it.

Best wishes to your wife and good luck with the book. Thanks for being a part of the incredible team to keep this group going.

Also, your journal is amazing. So glad I got a chance to look at it. Get through a couple of pages and need to check out the rest of it. Unfortunately, time for work now.

Have a great weekend and THANKS again!

I live in Northern Virginia. This winter is not typical at all. We're supposed to get 1-2' between Friday and Saturday. Tomorrow I'm going to get up early to run, but Saturday I don't know what I'm going to do. All I have is a 30 minute walk today and it's nice out. I think it's in the 40's. I think I saw that we might get more snow Tuesday/Wednesday of next week too.

Did you see our governer has already declared a state of emergency? And what do you want to bet my son misses more school next week?

Come on people, it's a little snow. Let's not overreact! :headache:

I saw that. I have class at 9:30 tomorrow morning, so I'm hoping it gets me out of class too :goodvibes

The winter storm warning is for 10am tomorrow through 10pm Saturday night now for up here. We're in the 18-24" bubble on the map now too. Earlier it was 12-18". I guess my cross training this weekend will be shoveling snow :)

I think you'll end up getting more than us. Stay warm.

Andrea - My father has been a hot air balloonist for almost 40 years. Over that time some interesting stories have accumulated. We are putting a book of ballooning stories together. My brother and I also have our licenses and unfortunately we have stories to contribute also. ;) If it was a nice routine and calm flight, it does not make the book.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. All is well with my wife. We are at week 24 and she is on simi bed rest until they can make sure her cervix is holding up at an appointment on Monday.

Today I ran 5.5 miles. That was my longest run since November and felt pretty good.

I am in Connecticut. Better check the weather. Have not seen anything about this one.

Got 2.4 miles done in my 30 minute walk. Felt good today. I'm going to have to get up early tomorrow to run ahead of the "paralyzing" snow storm we're getting. Yes, that's what they're calling it :lmao:

Tomorrow will be my first day with 6 minute running intervals. Looking forward to it.

Alright, this is from a beginner but I have to share my happiness....

Tonight I did my first whole 5K!!! Just uploaded my information to my Nike+ site and I ran the 5K in 36'54". I tried to run as much has possible and estimate that I ran at least 1/2 of it. I was so excited to be able to complete it!!

It is hard to believe that the first week of January I could barely WALK one mile...

I am excited for the Valentine's Day Virtual 5K...when I complete that, I might finally call myself a runner!

Jen that is Awesome! Huge Milestone!

This morning, I got up early again for swimming and I was the only one there! So lucky me, I got a private lesson from my swim coach who also happens to be 1990 Danish Junior champion in the 400 Medley relay and a 2007 New Zealand Ironman finisher. Oh and he's also run 15 marathons! Score for me!!!

That sounds really interesting. What an unusual idea for a book.
I hope your wife continues to be well. I had to be on bed rest briefly when I was pregnant, and it is not fun. More PD for her. pixiedust:

Jeez, last week we had "the storm of the decade." Now it's a paralyzing snow storm? They're just trying to come up with interesting ways to say "lots of snow." I just heard Amtrak has already shut down service through NC and VA. :sad2:

How did your run go?
