Reasonable transportation while in WDW

We're going to WDW and other Orlando areas in February. We usually get a rental car for the whole week for convenience that traditionally ran under $200 with all fees etc. This year the prices seem over the top double even with the codes, which seem chintzy so unless something changes I'm either only going to do 3 days or maybe even car service. Does anyone have any useful recommendations?

Stay at a WDW hotel. Use DME to get to your resort and use Disney transportation. Rent a car (taxi/car service) for the days you want to go to places like Universal.

Staying offsite? Suck it up and get the best rental price you can find. Maybe try PL or Hotwire.

The time we are on property we're ok, and the time we're off property at a timeshare we'll be ok too since they also have shuttles. It's the in between parts that look like they can be bothersome and suck up a whole lot of time. Unless something changes maybe the Yellow Cab Co will work to go to-from the timeshare but maybe someone out there might have a better idea. I would rather have a car the entire time to be honest, but not for $400:eek:
