Can someone recommend a reasonable and clean hotel near Universal? I think the rates for the main hotels are way too expensive for us:scared1: . We'll have a rental car:car: so it's not a problem driving there. We don't want to stay at the hotels right across the street either as they didn't look very appealing when we left Universal last time (unless you know the good ones).
Thanks!

We just stayed at the Sheraton Studio City a few weeks back. Very nice for an older hotel.

It's clean, VERY friendly staff, and you could literally walk to Universal (I wouldn't only because of the traffic in the area). Rates are reasonable, and ask for a high floor room, facing Universal for an excellent view!

I usually book via Priceline. Bid 3*, Idrive/Universal zone. It usually comes up for $44-$65/nite. If that doesn't come up, the Wyndham Orlando does. It's not our favorite, but it's nice enough (certainly better than a Comfort Inn, etc.), and many folks on here rave about it!

We stayed at The Doubletree on Major Blvd and if you have AAA you can go on the AAA site and get a standard room with them for about $80.00 a night but does cost $7.00 a night to park but a big plus is its only a ten min walk to universal and just a couple min drive.

Google "hotels major blvd orlando" to find the hotels across the street from USF. Then check out tripadvisor.com for the hotels that are in your price range. I've been reading reviews for a while trying to decide where to stay our first night down. I didn't want to spend more than $100 for a place to sleep for one night. There is a Laquinta, best western, holiday inn and an express, baymont, and a couple of Extended Stays on Major blvd. You say you will have a car. There are a lot of hotels on I-Drive, Carrier and Universal blvd. We have a rate of $69 at the Laquinta on Universal blvd and it is rated very highly on Tripadvisor's site. Now, you could not pay me to stay at the one on I-Drive from the reviews. TA has reviewers pics, too. That way you can see how good or how bad a place really is and not have to rely on dummie photos from the hotels. ;) Can you tell I really like the site. LOL

Has any one stayed at the Ramada inn on international Drive or La quinta on Major blvd. How were they? Thanks Lisa
