Hi. Hope someone can help with this one. We're driving down to Disney next month from NY with my 2 1/2 yo DS and my 7 1/2 month old DS. My younger son hates the car, and we're trying to think of ways to make it better. We were going to buy a TV for the minivan, but not sure if his watching it backwards would make him sick. I know it depends on the child, but was curious what other people's situations were. Or, if someone can recommend something to make the trip less stressful, I'd greatly appreciate it. We are leaving at 8 pm and planning on driving straight through the night.

Thanks so much!

We bought a portable dvd player from target when our daughter was 4 months old. It hooks to the front of the seat when she is facing backwards. She loves it. We have made many 8-10 hour trips to see her grandparents and she has never complained or cried. We take enough dvd's so that she has alot of variety. It has never made her sick. Your son is already just staring at the seat or out the window, so I don't think the videos will make him sick. Or are you talking about the 2 year old watching it also? Also, they will probably sleep most of the night.

If you have one front-facing and one rear-facing, you can rig a *plastic* mirror with velcro to reflect the picture on the seatback so that the little one can see it. Kids that young are not fussy about perfect picture quality.

Being car sick is really rare in a child that young. I don't think that will be a problem. I too was wondering how you would rig it so both kids could see when they are facing in different directions. Good for you to leave your infant facing backwards. Too many parents turn their kids way to soon.

We are faced with this same problem!! DD is 5yo, DS is 8mo!! We have the screens in the headrest, so we are going to "rig" the mirror I use to see him(it suctions onto the back window)so that he can see the reflection of the movies. I hope it works, and I hope he even notices it!!! They do have some things you can put on the seat he is looking at with toys attatched. I saw one at Babies r Us that was espesially for the car that projected a sceen on the ceiling and played music. Really neat!
Good luck.:wave2:
