I know there are lots of us waiting for more information so we can make decisions on what to do with our summer vacations... we are booked July 25 for 8 nights. 14 of us. I really think we should cancel move to next summer. Some of the group really wants to wait it out but I have to worry about using my points somewhere else etc, so I would like to make a decision asap.

I personally dont want to go if have wear a mask, too hot! I also don't want go if all parks are not open... really don't think it worth it if its not pretty normal and I am thinking its not going to be normal by July 25.

I think I am going to push to cancel. Thoughts appreciated...

I started dropping my dining reservations for an end of August trip today. We just found out our local pool will be closed for the summer. I think that is really when it hit me that the trip is not happening. I don't think it will be the same experience even if we go assuming it is open, We don't vacation often and I don't want to spend all the money for a half-way experience. I won't wear a mask on vacation. I couldn't wait to get mine off after a half hour in the grocery store yesterday. Cancer killed a trip in 2013 and I am pretty ticked off that all the planning I again did for a trip is in the toilet. Good luck with your decision.

We just canceled our July 22nd 10 night trip. One member of our party is higher risk. It’s just not worth it for us. Idk if that’s helpful, but you’re not alone. It definitely won’t be completely “normal”.

Oh man.. thanks stinks.. I am so sorry you are going thru this also.. so horrible! I hear ya.. I agree with it all, no mask too much money for it not to be the trip we had planned... ugh ugh I think I need to take charge and tell the family we need to plan summer 2021... I think its the smartest... I thought about thanksgiving... but scared of that too... good luck with your replanning of your trip.

We have that issue too... 1 person is only around 40 but has type 2 diabetes.. the other is 78 I think!! So that is another huge reason I think we need to reschedule....

General geographic area ?
Any one else have predictions on local beaches pools etc?
Judging what it maybe like for August trip.

They are your points. If you are not willing to risk them, I would cancel.
If you are using your points for their reservation, have them pay you for your points now and tell them that they are non-refundable should Disney not open. Because they are not.

I'm sure disney wishes they had informaion to give to. States right now are just now trying to start doing phase 1 reopenings. How well those go and what that does to the numbers is going to go a long way in determining what happens at disney and other places like that.

If you’re at risk of losing your points I would cancel! Just explain it to the fam...I’m sure they will understand. We pay a lot of money to go on these Disney trips and the limited experience won’t be worth the cost to some. We’re booked to go in August and I don’t plan on canceling, I’m expecting a limited experience and I’m ok with that. The only thing that REALLY bothers me is if they require you to wear a mask. I will suffocate wearing a mask in August!!

I told my husband yesterday that our Jun 29th trip is likely not going to happen and that I am starting to debate our September (Food and Wine) trip. We have until July 31st (Dec use year) to decide. I really don't think we will be returning to Disney this year. We had just renewed our annual pass, too.

If it were me I would cancel. Based on your OP I don't think you're going to have the experience you wish for and most likely the other people in your party will be disappointed too.

I agree that wearing a mask in the parks during the summer is not something I would want to do. It is way to hot in FL for me in the summer to begin with without the addition of a face mask.

Another consideration is that pools may not be open. I wouldn't want to spend time in a hot park and not be able to cool off in a pool at some point during the day. JMHO

Sorry you are having to make this tough decision but in the long run I think you will be happier if you wait until 2021. Hopefully by that time we will be closer to normal.

Hi, I’m just curious why you say pools would not be open?

I don't think anyone knows the right answer to this right now... including Disney. I think it will depend on how the numbers trend after phases of reopening.
I have a trip planned for the first week of September... and we are coming from Canada. My worry is if Disney will open but also will the border open... will airlines be back to "normal" operations, will my health insurance cover me in the USA? So many unanswered questions at this point. I'm keeping my vacation at this point until it becomes forced upon me. I am ok with wearing a mask... wearing gloves... no pool... lots of hand sanitizing. Whatever is necessary to be safe in the happiest place on earth.

We have that issue too... 1 person is only around 40 but has type 2 diabetes.. the other is 78 I think!! So that is another huge reason I think we need to reschedule....
It won't be anywhere close to "normal". No matter how Disney decides to operate, there will be people there who have been infected with the virus - perhaps many of them not even aware that they are contagious.

You have at least two people in your group in the high risk group. That means if they are infected, the chances of them developing serious complications are higher than average. In Minnesota, we've been told that the shelter-in-place recommendations are very likely to be continued for high risk groups even after the Governor 's general SIP orders are lifted.

IMO, it's not worth it until a vaccine is widely available. FWIW, I am in a high risk group and will almost certainly be cancelling our October reservation, which means absorbing the cancellation costs (including non-refundable airfare). I've already started the grieving process over losing a beloved vacation, but I need to listen to my head, not my heart.

Good luck. It's not an easy decision.

I'm planning an October trip to DLR and a November trip to WDW. Cautiously optimistic that it will happen but also prepared for it not to. I really don't want to waste my time there if it isn't close to normal operations. It is hard though not being able to plan things with all this uncertainty. We have a trip planned in August to go to Colorado and I'm hoping at least that one happens since it's easier to social distance in a national park!

Hi, I’m just curious why you say pools would not be open?

Hi, I don't know for sure that the pools will be close. I don't know that anybody knows that for sure but I got that from reading many threads on these boards. People aren't expecting the pools to be open for a while because of the potential of spreading CV-19. Is that factually known at this time? I don't know, I don't know if Disney knows. At this point its a wait and see, best to plan for the worst case scenario and if it's better then we expected we can all be happy.

I think the new normal will be something that could last 12-18 months or more. Masks yes, testing at entrance yes, vaccines card showing you had a shot yes. To many non believers on the virus and the 20-40% that could be carriers. If you go just plan to enjoy what you can. It could be a couple of years before its back to old normal if then. We've enjoyed many freedoms and i think this just slows us down a little and appreciate what we can enjoy.

Thoughts appreciated...
We've decided that we are avoiding "densely crowded" activities---theme parks, live sporting events, cruises, etc.---until a vaccine is widely available. We will still travel, but to more outdoors-oriented destinations with hiking, biking, kayaking, etc.

If they are open,vI don't think there will be a food & wine event this year.
