Really want to see Tinkerbell light the fireworks

For our trip in December, my mother has expressed the desire to see Tinkerbell fly up to the castle to light the fireworks as she has never gotten to see this before. We are planning on doing this our first night there on Saturday, December 8th. That way, if the weather is bad and she doesn't fly, we have the rest of our trip to try and see her. I'm trying to come up with the best place for us. I know that the bridge between Tomorrowland and the Hub is a great spot, but then I was thinking that she might want to see some of MSEP, as well. She hasn't said anything about it, but I am going to ask her next week. Anyway, I am not rambling. If Tinkerbell is your #1 priority, the parade is your second priority, and the fireworks are not a priority at all, where would you suggest getting a seat?

I have made out a schedule so we are only at Easywdw recommended parks everyday, except for our first day. My plan is to go to Epcot or Animal Kingdom (most likely Epcot, though) when we first arrive, or possibly after naps (flight arrives at MCO at 10:50) and head over to Magic Kingdom for the sole purpose of seeing Tinkerbell. I didn't realize that there was such a break between the parade and the fireworks, so that is good to know. People don't care about the fireworks, so it is likely we will leave during the show and, with any luck, not run into such large crowds waiting for the bus.

I have no doubt that my daughter will love seeing Tinkerbell fly! She, my mom, and I have watched it on youtube. Not sure who was more excited about it, though, my mom or my daughter.

If I was willing to stake out a spot, I would look for one between the end of main street and the hub, or in the hub itself (be sure to note the section that the parade does not pass thru). From there you could see the parses, the magic, memories and you show, and wishes with tink. I agree that you will not want to leave during wishes. Since your mom has never seen tink, I'm assuming she hasn't seen wishes, which is really so much more than just standard fireworks. Plus if you're close enough to see tink, there will be wall to wall people between you and the exit, and you likely won't make it out before the end of the show anyway. Just stay put and enjoy yourselves. Get some desserts from the ice cream shop or the bakery and take in the atmosphere.

There are a few (probably less than 10) benches in this general area, but to get one you need to claim it more than an hour before the parade, probably two hours prior, so if you need it plan accordingly. If you have anyone in a wheelchair or ecv, look for the special accessible areas.

I agree with the PP. Don't plan on leaving mid-fireworks after tink. The street & sidewalks will be massed with people watching the show, and the lights are out. They make announcements prior to the fireworks asking people to remain in place until the lights come back on.

It might be a possibility if and only if you are able to stand by the sidewalk tables in front of Plaza restaurant & then go back down the length of Main Street through the stores. I've got to admit that I don't see the point of staying for the first couple of minutes of fireworks & trying to stumble out through the crowd in the middle of the show. I've seen people do it before, and all they do is annoy everyone else trying to peacefully watch the show, as they come barging through a still & focused crowd. People will have to take their eyes off the show & move so you can pass & it disturbs them.

You're there, in place, watching the show. Stay and see the rest of it. That way you don't have to fit it into your schedule on another night.

Please don't get a prime spot and then leave during the fireworks, as a courtesy to the other guests. There is nothing worse tha being caught up in Disney magic watching Wishes only to have it ruined by "excuse me, coming through!" as a person tries to weaves through a packed crowd. Keep in mind that it is so crowded and dark that movement is virtually impossibly without needing to ask people to move, thus lessening the magic for hundreds of people so you can get out early.

If you feel that strongly about leaving, stand near the entrance. Although, won't get a good view of Tink there.

Tink (human-sized, BTW) slides down a cable from one of the castle towers (upper right side of tallest tower if you are on Main Street looking to the castle) over towards the Tomorrowland Terrace/Monster's buildings. The cable is visible on Google maps at the closest zoom setting. Couldn't quite find it on Bing's bird's eye.

As stated before, leaving during the show, from an area where you can see Tink's flight, is pretty difficult. It will be very packed, and you'll be bumping through shoulder to shoulder crowds.

Well the very last thing I would want to do would be to spoil someone's vacation. I didn't think about the idea that I would block someone's view if I left. No worries. We won't do that.

Thank you to everyone for the replies. I like Wishes, too, and think that it needs to be seen. She has just expressed a desire to see Tink. Will make it clear that, so as to not spoil anything for anyone else, we will stay for the whole show. Appreciate the help an input!

Have you thought about the Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party? You could do that, load up on desserts, maybe catch a glimpse of the parade, then see Tink fly right overhead. You've got a reserved seat and can wait there until the crowds thin out to try to get to a bus.

Just keep in mind also that Tink might not fly every night. The conditions have to be just right for her to fly. If it is windy, cold, rainy, etc. she will not fly. The fireworks will go on as usual, just no Tink.

Believe me, I would love it, but I'm not sure it is the best of ideas. My mother is currently on a diet (has lost over 100 pounds and is now a size 10 so go her!) and I don't want to do anything that might derail it. I am thinking about it for the trip my husband and I will be taking for just the two of us the following September, though.

Oh it's not that we don't like them. It's that we are getting up at 4:00am to catch a flight so that we can arrive at WDW at 10:50. Even with a nap, I'm sure that we will all be exhausted by the time Tink takes flight at 10:00. The men and the toddler will likely all be back at the hotel leaving just us ladies. We thought that would be a way to save some time - but, since we want to see Tink, and I didn't think about how difficult it would be to get out of MK, plus I didn't think about how hard it would be to not obstruct someone's view, looks like we will be watching Wishes!

fif you stand on the bridge between the Hub and Tomorrowland (the first one, where you can walk straight to Astro Orbiters and the PeopleMover), Think will fly right over your heads.

If you arrive at MK during daylight, look up for the cable that goes from the castle down towards the front of the park (you can see it on the right side of the castle at the very top). That shows you the "path" that Tink takes which helps you know exactly where to stand.
