we changed phone companies last month and I got our final bill. It was for .61. How in the world do you pay .61 to someone. Can you even write a check for .61? I was going to just tape the money on the bill but decided that would be a bad idea. Which brings me back to my question..... How do you pay a bill for .61?

you can pay it the same way you pay the others. just put no dollars and 61 cents

I would not send in cash

Usually if it's under a $1, they don't want it. Call and ask.

Charade hit the nail on the head. Call and they will probably just write it off.

If you want to have some fun, write them a check for $0.62 and see if they send you a refund.

well I called, they still wanted their money. I offered to tape the money to the bill and mail it to them, the lady wasn't amused. She LET me pay the bill by credit card over the phone for FREE, just this one time....... ok, so now my disney visa will now have a .61 charge to AA&T next month.

She also tried to get me back as a customer, I wanted to say that maybe for the .61 you could have, but the reason we left because we felt nickle and dimed to death and this just proves my point.....but I was nice and just said thank-you, but no we are happy with our new and cheaper service.

Unbelievable! I am so glad she let you pay it over the phone for FREE. How nice of her! ;)

You know what kills me about this...for the paper and the ink to print the bill, then the postage to send it...it probably cost THEM more than 61 cents :sad2:

Plus the administrative cost to process the payment when it comes in, and the customer service person's time to speak to the OP today.

plus the added credit card fee and whatever it costs to pay the people I talked to. I just hope this new company works out for us. Its not that much cheaper, but we get many more services that we didn't have before. I like the 300 minutes of free long distance alone!

If you ever want this kind of credit again, your best bet is to talk to someone in the collections dept, not customer service. Customer service usually doesn't have the authority to credit and would probably have to fill out paperwork and send to the collections dept.

Usually credit reps understand that it costs more to the company/customer to keep billing, for you to use a .39 stamp to pay a .61 bill, etc.

I once paid Dell 1cent less than my bill stated. I don't know how I managed that, but they sent me a statement the next month for .01. And I just got a credit card bill for .03. I paid extra on it last month, thinking I had added enough for some gas I had just put on my card, but was .03 short. And they want their .03.

Send them $1. Ask for your change to be mailed to you.

LOL :rotfl:

My DM got a bill for $0.01 before. This was a long time ago and before electronic bill pay methods so she just taped a pennie to the bill and sent it in. I have always wondered why they waste paper, inc and postage for a few pennies.

Funny you mention this about AT&T. When I moved from California my final bill (and it stated closing or final bill) was for something like $6.82. So I mailed them a check. One month later I get another bill and this time it says - again - Final/Closing Bill....$.06 cents. I couldn't believe it and when I called they were willing to take the payment over the phone also. I chose to tape a nickel and a penny to the statement with a nice :furious: little note. I know the stamp cost me more than putting it on my CC but my CC's are finally clear and it was worth it to me to keep them that way if you know what I mean. Bottom line....AT & T needs to have some work done on their billing system to alleviate this kind of junk.

I have a feeling all these companies have a policy that if they owe YOU less than $1.00 they will not refund it. Just betcha! :thumbsup2

I kept getting a bill for $.01. Finally I sent them a check for $.01. They didn't cash it and kept mailing me bills. Every month I got a bill with a statement about how they would take me to court if I didn't pay! :lmao:

We've since moved, but I'll bet they are still mailing that stupid thing every month.
