Really silly AP question

Okay- please no laughing....

When you renew an AP, it is valid from the time of renewal for one year...or is it valid a year from the next time you use it? I am trying to figure out if it is worth it to renew or just buy a new one when I get there....I am up to renew in August but am not scheduled to go to Disney (hopefully) until December....

It is valid from renewal date. Several years ago, you could renew without immediately activating, but not any longer.

I was put in this very situation. My Ap expired early Feb, next trip wasn't until June. I chose for 40.00 differnce to just buy a new AP.

It usually works out that if your next trip is 3 months or more after your AP expires, you should just get a new AP (not renew). In some cases, it is as little as 2 months.
