Really Need ADRS????

We went last August on the free dining plan but decided to take a chance and did not make one single ADR. Everything worked out fine, we are not very particular where and when we eat and did not want to do character meals. We are going again this August , no dining plan (staying at Dolphin , can't wait!). I did make a couple of ADRs for lunches and one for the Fantasmic dinner. BTW, is a 6:20 ADR for a 8:30 Fantasmic ok, that's all they had.

Has the dining plan taken off so well that it will be hard to eat at Sci Fi or 50's Diner for lunch at an off time? We will be eating at cheaply as possible but would like a couple of fun lunches. I really don't like tying us down with meal reservations. What do ya'll think?

Not getting too wrapped up in ADR but still making one or two for some "can't miss" meals like Boma. Last time, we discovered the benefits of doing a sit down lunch over a counter service lunch and instead of the evening meal. For these, we would call the day or night before and make the reservation. We only had to take one time that we did not originally ask for and that was only 30 minutes later. It also depends on your time of year. If you are going in August, you may want to go ahead and make a few more. You can always cancel if you change your mind or plans change.

I think a late lunch is a 50/50 thing (which are good odds, comparatively, these days). An early dinner is iffier, and a prime time (pardon the pun) lunch or dinner, or late dinner, is way too risky, AFAIC.
