I've been looking through re-sale, and with me liking these 2 resorts the best, it would make sense to buy the SSR re-sale (because I want the extra years), as it seems a safe bet that I can get OKW within the 7-month window. From looking at the point totals, Sept is looking like our 'intended' time to vacation.

Is my thinking correct in this? I like the Boardwalk, and maybe will stay there one day, but I really only see us using OKW and SSR. They seem like the biggest and easiest resorts to get into. We're not big 'planners' ahead of time, so this is why I ask.

considering the extra points and no closing costs you get buying SSR direct..that may be the best route unless you find a really good resale offer.

OKW resales usually have better offers, but you need to be patient for the process and diligent looking for the right one for you.

My hubby would say if the resort(between the 2) don't matter to you where you stay, then buy the cheapest. If it matters or you like the longer contract term(years) then choose based on that

Given your circumstances it is not a question of if buying a resale at SSR is right it is the only correct decision...............good luck

Sounds like SSR is best for you, more years etc.

Go for SSR. Why buy a resale? just get a new contract.

September is one of the easiest months to book DVC, so you should have a good chance at most of the resorts.

I am looking into buying at the moment as well. I was at SSR last november and enjoyed it but if I could have any resort they wouldnt be my 1st choice, however given the length of time you get with SSR, they will be where I end up buying. Having stayed at most places (but not all) I have to say I love OKW as well.

Since the extra years are important to you go with SSR. :thumbsup2

Also, give some of the other resorts a try. Like BCV and HH. :teeth:

I was looking at some resales, and it seems I can save a little money (and get more points that I thought)......I'm in no rush, so I think I'll keep an eye on resale, but always have the option to buy direct.

Remember that even though you may be saving a couple hundred bucks through re-sale, you may have to pay closing costs and you most likely won't get this years points.

We purchased directly from Disney and it was so painless! Yes, there were resales that were cheaper (points, wise) but most of them were stripped and I didn't feel like I would really save anything after closing costs. Plus, I have a problem with immediate gratification :teeth: .

I have a Dec UY and after receiving and banking points, I will have enough points to cover 2 week long vacations in a 2 bdrm next year.

Congratulations on your choice and I wish you the best of luck with whichever path (resale or direct) you choose. :thumbsup2

Sounds like either would be fine assuming you are not looking at using a GV at OKW periodically. Otherwise it comes to to price and value. Basically is the difference in price worth it to you for the extra years. Good luck.

to be honest, I'd LOVE to just buy the OKW for the resale rates I've been seeing, but at 31 years old, I would like to have the extra 12 years on the contract.
