I'm pretty sure I have posted about this before (years ago), but we recently returned from another trip to AKL, and I could not believe how much of other guests' "bathroom activities" I could hear! Let me just cut to the chase: any time anyone went #1, seemingly in ANY surrounding room, you could hear the entire thing! And then, of course, the tell-tale flush! It got really interesting around bedtime, when everyone was using the bathroom. "Tinkle tinkle tinkle--flush; tinkle tinkle tinkle--flush"!!!

Seriously, it really detracted from the enjoyment of the room, and frankly I expect more soundproofing from a "deluxe" hotel. I don't recall every hearing this type of noise in any other hotels! Toilets flushing, yes, but never the actual guest using the bathroom!! I was thinking maybe we got a bad room last time, so we gave it another chance, but nope, it must be every room! Ack, I really disliked it! I doubt I will stay there again (well, maybe with a really good discount!;))

Has anyone else had this experience? My hearing isn't even that great anymore, so I figure if I heard it, everyone else must, too.

Wow, I have read this same type of experience on the board several time. But we have never encountered this and we have stayed at the AKL 6 or 7 times. Sorry this happened to you.

Hey, I heard the same exact potty noises at Wilderness Lodge. Drove me crazy - first time I used ear plugs in a hotel! :sad2:

Well all you deluxe people should expect to not hear it, but it is defiantely there at the value resorts.
Oh, and wait until you try BLT studio!! The door just slides across, doesn't close.

We stayed at AKL, and our room had a door to a connecting room. Even so, we never heard one sound from either side of us ... nothing! AKL had the absolute quietest room we've ever stayed in at WDW. POFQ on the other hand, had the noisiest.

I've never heard that. Are you sure it's not like water running through the pipes in the wall?

We had the same noise experience at the Wilderness lodge. My wife was annoyed with it to the point that she would rather not return there (the lodge, not WDW) again.

I believe that both the Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge were designed and by architect Peter Dominick, so it is not surprising that they would have common "issues."

How about when you hear "bedroom activities"? I've heard that a few times.

1) AKL & WL are not deluxe hotels.
2) According to WDW, they are First Class hotels.
3) There is a huge difference.
4) Why else are they priced so low for a "deluxe" WDW resort?
5) All you can do is put up with it or move to another resort.

Then why does WDW list them as deluxe resorts when you book online, and when they send a confirmation? We are staying at AKL and my reservation definitely says "Resort Category-- Deluxe Resorts":confused3

I don't think that's correct.

They are not as expensive as other 'deluxe' resorts at WDW simply because they do not have direct park access..you have to take a bus or boat to all parks. That's basically the only difference.

I have heard bathroom noises at every single resort/hotel I have stayed at. Especially in the middle of the night. During the day it just isn't an issue..too much other noise going on. But, if someone wakes up, above you or next door to you, and uses the bathroom, and you are awake, you are going to hear it.
For me it's just not that big a deal. I would rather hear those bathroom noises than have to listen to people yelling or speaking loudly around me late at night.

Location: Magic Kingdom Area Category: Deluxe
Disney's Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida captures the adventurous and romantic spirit of the grand National Park Service lodges found in the Great American Northwest. Rates for this Disney Deluxe Resort begin at $240 per night, plus tax.

I think this might help you understand that they are categorized as Deluxe, or are you saying that Disney is not advertising truthfully.

I have not had the problem hearing the rest room noises the op is discussing.

We did not have this bad experience when we stayed last year (thank goodness)...I requested no adjoining room and end of hall way room and I was shocked that I did not hear others...but when we stayed in GF (we had an adjoining room)...we can hear the other people conversation...it was hard b/c we had a 2yr trying to sleep and next door seems to be partying at 3am in the morning (thankgoodness they left the next morning). Evertime we travel to Disney I always request to no adjoining room (last time at GF and AKL are request was guaranteed and make a big difference of not hearing others)

We were at AKL about 3 weeks ago, and I never heard anything. In fact, we were right next to the elevators, and didn't hear them, either! And I'm a light sleeper. I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet the room was once I closed the doors to the balcony (pool view room).

I always pack a small fan and run it near my bed at white noise. Otherwise I'd never sleep in any hotel WDW Deluxe, Value , mod or off-site.

Myself personally have never experienced this at BCV, and would have to be moved as I am a light sleeper (except for during F&W festival:drinking1.)HAHA. This is probably very childish but I would more than likley get a case of the embarrassed giggles:rotfl::eek:

The only noises I have ever heard from any of the resorts value thru DVC is the JEt engine sound of toilets flushing, and loud guests slamming doors in the hallways...Never heard someone doing "their bathroom buisness"
