Really Bad Night

I talked to the boy's mom at school this morning again, and it didn't start out with this whole "VMK scandal", but after talking to her I think the boy has multiple accounts that he is storing items that he has been taking from my DD account, and possibly other people's accounts who have signed on to their computer in the past. Is there any way I can help the mom find out how many accounts he has? This whole thing just keeps getting deeper and deeper!!!!!!! :sad2:

Thanks!

Hmm. I'm not sure what browser they use and if it's set up to save. If they use Firefox, they can check to see how many accounts are saved.
Click on Tools, then Options. Under the Security tab there is a section for passwords. Click on show passwords and it will have all sites listed that have saved passwords.
Those for VMK are listed under https:// secure.disney.go.com with the user name beside it.

But, what she might do is to go to VMK's Contact us and Sign in as a parent and see if she can find out how many accounts are coming from her IP. I don't really think if they will really help her or not, but, you never know.
But, it might help if she explains the problem with her son stealing stuff off of other people's accounts.

I just saw this thread and finished reading it, and wow. I am shocked by this boy's rudeness! I can't believe that this stuff was going on and the mom had no idea. My mom watches me play sometimes as well as my dad, and I am 16. It's not me they don't trust, it's the other people on the internet, and I can see why. How awful that a "friend" of your daughter betrayed her like that. IMO, that lesson she had to learn was such a tough one, if you know what I mean. It seems like terrible things always happen to the good people.. Anyways, I don't know if your daughter likes tiki idols, but I have a multitude and would be willing to give her some. :D I also have pins, quite a few, so I will try and be there on Saturday..

Like I have said so many times before, the generosity and support we have found onthe DIS Boards has been amazing. My DD likes to come home now after school and "check out" the DIS Boards! princess:

As far as the boy goes, I heard he has to confession on Sunday at Church. The mom said she's glad this happened this way, and not really affect anyone in worse way. I still don't think she understands the "magic" of VMK to some people, but I guess in some ways she is right.............. I think :sad2
: The better person in me tries saying, "yea right", it wasn't "really real". But the VMK mom and Disney Mom of my DD says, you'r nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because this mom is a friends and I see her more often than most, I try not to make this whole thing the main topic of our conversation, since I talk to her often. But every time I talk to her, some little bit of info comes up.

You know you'll all be the first to know anything!!!!! :grouphug:

Here's a really nifty suggestion: try showing the boy and his mom these posts and show them:
1. How much pain this has brought you two
2. How ridiculous this whole mess is to us
3. How he should earn back every last item of your daughter's items.

Maybe this could change some minds, teach some lessons, straighten this out.. the possibilities are endless.. :lmao:

I'm not sure if this would work. The mom isn't a VMK addict and probably will never be able to understand the pain involved. Some people just don't get it when it comes to games. :sad2: She probably would think we are ridiculous for being so emotionally attached to a game and prizes that aren't real. Again, some people just don't get it when it comes to games. :sad2:

If real items had been stolen, I'd agree that the boy should have to earn back the items. Restitution is usually a good punishment. However, in this case, the boy would have to play VMK to earn the items back. That sounds more like a reward than a punishment.

So, here's my twisted but serious idea for the appropriate punishment. The boy should have to teach the mom how to play VMK and he should have to watch her as she plays and earns back the items he stole. This would accomplish two things. First, the kid would just die of boredom and frustration from watching the mom learn and play. Second, the mom would be more computer/game literate and would be better equipped to supervise her kids' computer use. I'm being dead serious here.

If that's not twisted enough for you, imagine what the boy's life would be like if the mom became addicted to VMK in the process! :rotfl:

I LOVE IT!! Too funny! If you only her, you'd think it was even funnier!! The truth is justlike you said, not only is the mom not a vmk addict, she is also not a Disney addict :rainbow: IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE!!!!?????? I don't think there is much I can do, short of showing her the thread, and even then she would thikn I was even more wacked out on Disney than everybodythinks I already am! :joker:

It is sweet though that a couple of my DD's friends who love VMK just as much as we do, got together and each gave her a few items. It is very sweet, because none of them really has alot, and have only been involved fwith VMK for a short time, due to my DD telling them all about it. :grouphug:

All I really know is that I stay up playing that darn fireworks game, whichI'm not very good anyways, trying to earn credits for DD so she can buy the new stuff coming out! So if you see someone stressing out in the fireworks lobby that would be me! pixiedust: lol!!

She's not a Disney addict? Oh my this is a strange and scary world we live in! :joker:

*spoken as someone who gets a lot of ribbing from non-Disney addict family & friends*

Tink,
Thank you also for your generosity! Skippypaul, who is a new DISboard friend has been so awesome to set up a little "party" for my DD.... SHe is so excited! I think it's the outpouring of support that has her more excited than anything! Some of her school friends, who she convinvced to become VMK members (and Little help of my talking to their parents ;) will also be visiting. They don't have much to give, but I think t hey saw how hurt my DD was to have had that happen to her! Thanks again for your offer, you are very sweet to do that!

Just to make it clear, I am dead serious about the suggested punishment. It may sound funny but I really think the boy should at least teach the mom how to play VMK and any other games he plays. She needs to know what he is doing on the computer and he needs to be more honest about what he is doing on the computer. I think the mom needs to take an interest in what her son is doing, even if she has to fake that interest.

We don't use that as a punishment in our house because we like to learn about what everyone is playing. It seems to bring our family closer together. I often encourage my son to play his video games in the living room. He likes to play there for three main reasons. The screen is bigger, the sound system is better and here's the great reason, he gets to show me how good he is at the game! I kind of enjoy watching him play too! He loves to have one of us come in his room to watch him play on his computer, especially when he is playing roller coaster tycoon or is about to do something totally spectacular. He's almost 16. Many of the times I have to go afk in VMK, it's because he wants to give me an update about his game. And you know what? I try to listen and remember what he says! My daughter is in college but she used to share her gaming experiences with us too. My husband doesn't play many games lately but when he does, he usually shares with us!

i was wondering when you dd would like to get her free animal crossing things and money

I will try to make it, as long as VMK cooperates better than it is today. I like the siggy idea, too.

Trish, If the others boy's Mom doesn't think these ar ereal items, perhaps you should direct her to the stuff her son has been buying of Ebay to prove to her that they do have tangible value. My heart goes out to your daughter and I hope to be there Saturday to help bring the "magic " back for her

Thank you so much! DD is very excited and still can't believe you are all actually going to do this for her! It is much appreciated! :grouphug:
Thank you all again!

Thank you so much for thinking of DD!! I just don't know what to say about the boy. If he were my son, things may have been handled alittle differently, but, truthfully, she is not familiar with VMK (can you believe it :cutie: ) and doesn't really understand that a lot of her things came from actual visits/quests from the parks and that now they are no longer available! Oh well! The support from all the wonderful ppl has been amazing! Thank you!

I do not wish to step on toes here as I am quite sure you must just be reeling about this whole mess, but IMHO, maybe you are going about this incorrectly with the mother by trying to explain VMK to her. HER SON IS A THIEF!!!! It does not matter whether it is a virtual item or a tangible item. I has value PERIOD. Next time you speak with her about it, just tell her the details are just that... details. She needs to get off her duff (sorry kids) and get cracking. Get that boy over to the computer screen log in those accounts and cough up! If necessary, she needs to get ahold of a computer expert and find out about those accounts! Hey grumpy you available? ;)

(So sorry, but the more I read the angrier I get!) This is such an old story in my family tree! Why is it the criminal types are always protected!

Ok off the soap box

I do not have much, but I will do my best to get to the room and gift her whatever I am able!

Not twisted Q, sweet very sweet!! I am smiling again! thanks hun ;)

trish, I doubt I can be online for the little party later today for your DD, but do you happen to have a list of the things that bad, highly obnoxious, thief in training child took from her (as you can tell, what he did doesn't upset me at all :rolleyes1 )? I might have an extra or two of some of it, I hope, and I would be happy to gift her. Just let me know. :grouphug:
