Really Bad Night

I just don't understand a mother like that! She didn't even offer to oversee (stand right there over his shoulder watching the computer) the "giving back" of whatever was left in her son's inventory? Geesh!

Trish, I may be out of bounds here, but I think another phone call to that mother is warranted. That boy needs a long vacation from his computer!

I'll come to the gifting room on Saturday too! I might have something she will like.

Stars don't mean much if you are a one or two finger typist and someone is watching over your shoulder.

Well he just caught a little glimpse right? While it is true that they can look over your shoulder, there isn't much a chance that they will catch all the letters. It's pretty hard especially if the person is a fast typer. Well a slow typer yes but..

I assumed slow typer. She may have also had an easy to guess password.

Think of the way this child is being brought up. If he is not held accountable for stealing in a virtual world , he may find no moral boundry to stealing in the real world!!
Yes, I understand that this is just a game, yet this child needs to be taught there are consequences to the inappropiate, hurtful actions.

Okay, i am off my soap-box.:sad2:

Hey count me in too I want to help with things I have. I do not have lots like some but I want to give what I can :)

I will try and be there also ...

Can you give us an idea of some of the things that she lost? What was most important to her?

Its a shame that the boys parents dont punish him but, thats really water under the bridge now. I know you cant do it Trish but I would love to know this boys vmk title. I will be sure myself or my friends do not trade with him. Give him the vmk plague.

Anyway on a happier note its nice to see so many ppl willing to participate. Im sure if you have any questions you can pm Trish and see what her daughter needs. One thing we know for sure is credits.

I would love to put on my pan hat......and green tights and play Robin hood and go to this boys room with my little band of virtual merry men. Hmm maybe we should all show up in pan hats Sat huh? lol

LOL
see you all 'sat

So sorry that happened to your daughter. That was a really rotten thing for the boy to do. He should have to give all of his items and an apology to your daughter.

I just have to say first off, my DD and I are completely speechless at this point with all the kindness an generosity that I have seen. I can not thank you all enough and there no words to express our feelings!

We are going to WDW in April, and my daughter asked me if I thought the ppl at VMK Central would give her lots of extra cards so that she can give items to those who have offered to help. I thought that was sweet, except that we have been to VMK central and they don't seem like they are the types of CM's that would do that, but we will try! :confused3

Just an update:

I did see the boys mom tonite, and she told me she wanted to hear the whole story. She is not familiar with VMK (EEEKK!!) and wanted me to explain things in detail. I did. SHe asked me what I would do if it had been my child, and I told her the truth. I would make my child, apologize, give all the stuff in her inventory to the "victim" (since the more rare items were all given away or traded) and then most likely ddelete the account, and have her banned fromthe computer for an extended period of time. She said she was going to talk to her husband about everything, and decide from there.

I also told her that I told him that had this beenthe real world, it would had been considered stealing, and he could have gine to jail. I have a friend who is a police officer and I actually thought about getting him on the deal and approaching him, as if this was a police report!!! lol!!! That might freak him out alittle too much......oh well!! :hyper:

I will keep you posted on the continuing saga of the VMK Highway Robbery!!

i think you should do that cop thing because if it does make him scared he will see how much bad he had done

WEll, just because the magic means so much to us, means its barely anything to them, because i am sure the mother thinks your crazy because it's just a game. I mean dont get me wrong vmk is more than a game too me but im sure not to his mother. anyway sorry what happened :worried:

For me it doesn't matter whether it's a game or not. That's not the point. You don't take things that do not belong to you. Stealing is wrong! I'm glad the mom wanted to hear more and I hope she does the right thing. She needs to teach her son there are consequences to his behavior. Otherwise in a few years she & her husband will be facing knocks at the door from police officers over stuff they can't ignore. It's no fun being the toughie but I'd rather crack that whip now (figuratively speaking) than visit my kids with a plate of plexiglass between us later on.

i imagine that if the mother read some of the post in this thread she whould know it means a great deal to all of us, besides, it is the principle of what happened. it was treating someone else's belongings with disrespect.

I never really knew how to explain it, butthis pretty much sums it up...the "magic" means more to us Disney fans, and others justdon't seem to understand it! My friends just think I am just a big kid because I love Disney so much! They laugh and smile, but I'm proud to be a "Disney Freak" as they all call me! lol! :thumbsup2

Stars also don't mean anything if the computer saved her login and password.

I, too, have some extra stuff I can give. :)

We haven't quite figured out how it happened, the little bugger won't fess up, and my DD hasn't been over to their house since this all happened. She swears she never hit anything that allowed for her password to be stored, she says she's pretty sure he was just looking.

I told him that "the log in report from VMK security" :scratchin said it looked like he had logged in many times over the past few weeks. He said he had only logged in about five or six times (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) At least my little white lie made him fess up a little more!

I found out tonite that my DD thought I was trading her stuff away for other items she was looking to trade for. Unfortunately I wasn't, and he had been slowly taking things away. He went a little nuts this weekend, and left her character in anoutfit that my DD said "she would never be caught dead in"!! She thought I had done it, and I thought she had done it! lol!

I knew something was wrong when all her animator stools were missing, and her 50th anniversay things. She always had the big bubble mickey head in her room! The story just keeps getting sticky with him!!!

Thank you for your offer as well! You are all extremely kind! :cloud9:

I'm glad to hear the mother is trying to learn more about the game and what happened. I know I would have difficulty figuring out the correct thing to do if I didn't know about the game or how it works. It's hard to understand someone being upset about pixels. Hopefully the mother will at least come to understand how your daughter feels as a result of the boy violating her privacy and trust by getting her password and using her account.

Instead of trying to explain it as a case of theft, it might make sense to explain the situation as being similar to what it would be like if the boy had signed on to the mother's email account and answered her emails. Maybe he made some lunch dates or promised to run some errands or wrote mean things or sent her personal email to her boss. Perhaps he found her banking info and was able to transfer funds into his own account. Maybe he had her bidding on items on ebay. The point being that he would have pretended to be his mother and made a big mess for her. How would the mother feel and how would she deal with that sort of violation?

That's what I feel happened to your daughter. The boy went on VMK as her character, pretended to be her and made a big mess for her by trading her stuff and spending her credits. I'm just glad he didn't do something to get her character banned! We all can do our best to help her rebuild her inventory but we can't undo the fact that her privacy and trust have been violated.

Another thing I find sad is that the mother of two kids that are playing and on line game is not familiar with it. :confused3 That is how I got hooked, playing with the kids. Have you checked into changing her password?

You don't necessarily have to hit anything to let her password be stored. On our computer, they get stored. If you log onto my computer once, and, say, your sign in name starts with a "B", all I need to do is type a "B" and push the arrow down key and it will give me a list of all the "B" names used to date. Then, once it auto-completed the name, I could tab into the password box and the password is entered.

I don't know how it was set this way, nor do I know how to erase the data, short of uninstalling and reinstalling explorer. There are at least a half dozen VMK players whose names I do not know (and are not mules of our family) in my computer. If I was malicious, I could rob them blind.

She needs to change that password ASAP and never again play VMK while at a friend's house.

The funny thing is that he has been getting on his dad's ebay account and purchasing items for vmk, without their knowledge. It came out when the sister, my dd's friend who was upset at her brother for doing that to my dd, told he parents. They then asked me how this works and he could basically buy, "nothing", on ebay for vmk :confused3 CRAZY!!!
