Reallocation Question

I used 80 borrowed points for a January 2011 reservation.

I have a March 2011 reservation that has 100 current UY points and some borrowed points.

My UY is April so keep in mind all borrowed points have to be used by March 31, 2011.

If I cancel my January 2011 reservation can I reallocate those 80 points with 80 points in my current UY? This way the majority of my March reservation would be with borrowed points and I could bank the current UY points without loosing any points?

I would not be adding onto my March ressie I just want to reallocate some points. I believe this is allowed but I would like some feedback before calling member services in the morning. By the way neither the January or March ressie is at a home resort both ressies were made @ 7 months (if that information matters).

You may ask Member Services to do this, there is no guarantee that they will, but in the past they have usually allowed it. But, that could change at any time, especially with them trying to make the DVC reservation system and the cash reservation system more compatible next year.

I must have gotten a CM that knew her stuff because I had no problem canceling the January reservation and "redistributing" the points to March. Both of those reservations were made @ 7 month windows so nothing had to be rebooked on our March ressie. We have a December ressie that was made @ 11 months and if I had wanted to redistribute the January points into the December ressie that ressie would have had to be canceled and rebooked.

So for me this worked out great! I did not loose any points and I have some to bank for my 2010 UY and we are for sure going on our March trip so those points will be used. All is well!

Great! So glad that it all worked out for you. It is a good thing too that you knew now, while still within your banking window, that you were not going to go on the January trip.

Yes, I've been able to do that in the past. Just make sure YOU know how it's done so if you get a greenhorn MS person, you can explain it clearly. If they don't understand, ask for a supervisor.
