Those specific pins are part of the Silent and Live Auction that will be held at the big pin event in September at Epcot. Since it states in the description that they are pre-production and will be released later in the year, it's a pretty good bet that they will released eventually.

Cool Looks like we have something to look forward to after the series 1 cards expire, its very expencive to make those pin molds so i'm sure we will be seeing more of them wonder what the cards that come with them will be!

I'm a big pin collector (I dropped over $330 in pins in one visit to one pin store in DLR and it's all Prince Jeffrey's fault - jk). It is my understanding that open edition means that they will be available in an almost unlimited supply. I hope there are some there when I go in December! If not, Mal, I may be sending you some moola! he he!

wait, their not gonna be a auction pin, their gonna be one of those rack pin sets with whatever in them, like 2 or etc. or buyable, i wouldnt mind using some major coinage for a disney pin with gold,


P.S. all u major disney pin collectors like me, that gold treasure stuff, looks like the treasure in the treasure chest pin from the potc2 dead mans chest cast member/lanyard pin series!

Ok.. a few things as a pin collector, I can probably clear up:

These are not REAL gold pins, and they won't be.. What the description means, is that the "gold" portions of the pin will be filled with a different looking surface, when they are released into production.

These pins are sample pins, pre-production, artist proofs. They are 2 of them.. made for demo purposes before they start making the thousands that will be available in the parks. These 2 specific pins will be auctioned off at a pin event. The big time pin collectors values these artist proofs and they have far more monetary and trade value in the future due to their rarity.


I definitely look forward to collecting these pins! They will be open edition, which means they should be available for some time. I am imagining though, that they will sell QUICK once new shipments come in, because they are a surprise as to which you get in the box, many people will be trying to get the entire set. I can't wait to see what cards come with them too!
