Real or Fake????

Fake--the real trees provide too much temptation for my cats. I have a Balsam & Cedar yankee candle for the smell.

Always Real- a few times we have gotten the kind with the root ball- and you keep it in the bucket - then plant it outside. But we have yet to keep one alive through the summer
Ps- love the thread title- you will definately generate a lot of interest with a title like that :rotfl:

We switched to fake last year. I can't rave enough about my tree! We got it at Sears. It's a pre-lit 7.5 ft Black Spruce. It looks very, very real! In fact people have asked me if it's real or fake. Once it's set up, it takes about 15 minutes to fluff out, and the branches are very sturdy so I can easily hang even my heaviest ornaments. And if a light burns out, the rest stay lit. It has so many lights that quite a few could burn out and I'd never even notice! And no needle shed! I just burn candles for that nice pine scent.

Fake here.

We wanted a real tree this year. Since I grew up with a scrawny fake one (20+ yrs) and DH's family always had a real one.

Had to go to Home Depot by myself to pick up the tree. Hard to tell what the real tree looked liked all bundled up. Thought about having to lug it to the van myself and arranging to meet up with DH at home to carry it up 5 flights of stairs (walk-up building), and buying a tree stand, having needles fall everywhere, and then having to dispose of the thing back down 5 floors after the holidays...

Needless to say, I checked out the fake trees at HD. I have to say, they make it much better now-a-days. Picked up the box for the Oregon tree (pre-lit), put it in the cart, paid for it, threw it in the van by myself and off I went.

The real tree can wait 'til we have a real house!

Fake and it only cost $17 at Walmart in 2001. I love it. Just the right size (about 5') We can fit lots of lights and decorations on it. Although, I have had a real one before too.

Real, and it's SPECTACULAR.

Ok, not really i just wanted to say that. We use a fako bought at walmat about 5 years ago fot $17, looks fine.

Fake - all the way - those pine needles drove me WILD the one year we tried the real tree....however, I always make sure that I have a couple of Home Interiors "spruce" smell candles lit at all times during Christmas....almost like the real thing! :goodvibes

REAL!!! We don't cut it ourselves, though, but maybe since we just moved to Illinois we can do that next year. We get the Frazier as they don't shed QUITE as much. It's worth the wear on the vacuum to me! :wave2:

Real for us. I'm hanging onto a childhood tradition and my kids love going to the tree farm to cut down our tree. Though, I have to admit that the mess of a real tree is stressful at times. Our tree holder got a leak one year and another year we had bugs hatch out from the tree.

Raised my eyebrows on this too.... :earseek:

REAL here too. Top of the Mountain Trees & you can see for miles! Wonderful when the adjacent mountains are snow covered. We love it!!!

Real, real, real!!!! Are we the only people left who go out into the WOODS and cut our own tree (w/a USDAFS permit of course)?

I grew up in the south w/only fake trees (and flocked fake trees...what a treat) and swore I would only have real trees as an adult. So we moved to the mountains of the NW and now cut our own tree. The kids LOVE the tradition of taking the 4WD up to the top of the mountain, treking for miles (or a few feet) and debating a perfect tree...then cutting and running back to the truck for the hot chocolate and cookies!

If you are stuck w/a fake and want the smell of a real one, I would suggest a wreath of real stuff!

I just bought a house so I bought a real tree for my first time.
I absolutely love the smell of it and it's beautiful. It's a white pine so the needles don't hurt.

Fake and I LOVE it!! I don't think I'll ever get a real tree again. The fake is beautiful and stress-free. It only takes 15 minutes to put up and take down.

Real! We always cut our own down, that way it is fresh and doesn't lose many needles. We do have a small fake one in each bedroom.

Real tree here. We had fake once and I hated it. We got our 7 foot plus tree at Home Depot and it was $26.99.

Real real real...loce the smell and that is what we love about christmas the tree but I agree the mess is awful...

Fake. When I was growing up, we started out with a real tree and moved to a fake because everyone was just too busy. I got so tired of looking at it, I swore I would always have a real tree. Then I got married and we started out with real, but we could never get the tree decorated unless my husband actually went and got a tree. He waited so long sometimes that by the time he put it up, we could barely enjoy it (we spend the week of Christmas with family out-of-state). So we broke down last year and bought a fake one so we could put it up sooner and enjoy it longer. I intended to have it put up Thanksgiving weekend so that my family who was visiting could see my house decorated for once. That didn't happen. :rolleyes1 But last night, it finally got put up. Thank God for snow days! :rotfl:

After years of insisting that we have a real tree (and I do mean years!), we bought a blue spruce/pre-lit tree last year. It looks quite pretty and elegant with its Disney decorations and white lights......

.....I want my real tree back, with coloured lights. I'm thinking that I'd like to go and get a small tree to put in the family room, but I can't justify the cost of the wee real ones. So, maybe a fibre-optic one? :confused3

I know that I could buy @ 600 coloured lights and change them, but, the point of a pre-lit tree is less work. And I know that I will want the elegant look....someday.

Maybe I just need to get out my candles to add a scent to the air.
