Real or Fake?

We used to buy real trees, but for the past 3 years have used a fake one. However, nothing compares to running around a tree lot with your family looking for <b>THE perfect tree</b>!!! We choose the fake one entirely for convenience.

Fake all the way! I despise real trees with a passion. I hate the way they smell, I hate the mess they make, I hate it when my dog eats the needles and throws up, I hate the fact that if the ornament weighs more than an ounce it makes the branches droopy. I'm a total grinch when it comes to real trees, don't like them one itty bitty bit.

Unfortunately, I have an artificial tree. Couldn't beat getting it for $9.99 at Target. Actually, I'm not happy with the trees we have to choose from in FL. When I lived in NJ, we ALWAYS had a real tree...Scotch Pine...ALWAYS! And our local fire department there always sprayed the trees with something to help prevent drying out, etc. I guess if we took them the tree. Then we would let the tree soak in a bucket of water over night before putting it up. Here in FL I even called around...they don't spray the trees here! And I've found it nearly impossible to find a Scotch Pine here either. So, it's the artificial tree. Much easier to put up any way since it's just me and my 10 year old.

I'm kind of surprised to hear about so many people afraid of the real trees. We get ours the weekend after Thanksgiving and keep it until the week after New Years. Our tree actually started budding again one year (no joke). No major loss of needles and if you get a Colorado Blue Spruce there is definitely no fear of droopy branches and don't worry about the kids touching either, they'll only make that mistake once (they are POINTY needles). I guess since we get ours so fresh it stays longer. All those trees you buy at the local shopping mall/parking lot tree guys...who knows how long they've been cut down and not watered - I'd agree that those can be a hazard. We'll probably have a real and a fake this year since the new house is so much bigger and needs more decorating..
