'Real' conversations with CM's

I had a very odd moment with Rafiki at a MNSSHP last year. I was wearing a costume I'd put together myself of Meg from the movie Hercules. Once I met Rafiki, he started giving me a huge hug, not letting go, and then got on a knee and motioned for me to sit on it. We took a picture like that together. Once we got up, he motioned for me to spin, which I did, and then made a motion up and down my body, and nodded his head in approval. It was a lot more attention than he'd paid to my friends, and was kind of uncomfortable.

I've also had moments where I've met characters, hugged them, and they just won't let go of me. While meeting Tigger once in the UK, he would not let me go throughout our whole interaction with him, with exception for the picture.

Aftertoday if you looked anything like Meg ,I cant realy blame him.:thumbsup2

Mrs. Homie and I were at 1900 Park Fare when Perla came up to me and planted a big, loud, we kiss on me. I leaned toward her and asked quietly, "That's a girl in that costume, right?" Perla shook her head "yes." I then heard, ever so faintly, the sound of the actress in the costume trying her darnedest to stifle a giggle. :rotfl2:

I volunteered for the Indiana Jones Show in DHS this last June. During one of the fight sequences, they had gathered all of the audience volunteers together to meet "Indiana Jones". During our impromptu meeting, he told us, "This is the only place where a cast member will tell you a PG-13 joke, you all ready?" We shook our heads yes and he asked,"What size bra does Ariel wear? Sea-shells!":rotfl2:

this is a fun thread - it is sure to have some updates out there

As a former CM, we love when guest strike up a convo. Y'all have some of the interesting stories. I worked in merch at all star and when we were slow, I would often talk to people.

I will never forget when I asked a one lady what was she celebrating, she said we brother was in Stage 4 of his cancer and his last wish was for the family to spend time at Disney.

Another time, this lady said she was going blind and would be completely blind within the last yet and the last few sights she wanted to see was Main Street.

When little kids would ask me what I did on my days off, of course I hammed it up and told them I hung with Mickey and Minnie. When adults asked what I did on my off days, I told them the truth... I was a tired CP who slept my days away and did normal things like laundry and grocery shopping lol.

Just as yall stories of us stay with you, trust, your stories stay with us forever.

My fiancé and me went to Disney this may for our wedding planning session during the day...they gave us Happily Ever After buttons. That night we went to dinner at 1900 park fare... When the evil step mother came by she saw our pins and asked what we were celebrating, when we told her she asked what my Wedding dress looks like, I told her I had a pic on my phone, well she wanted to see it. As I was scrolling through my wedding dress pics, she saw a picture of my shoes for the wedding and she goes... Oh my those shoes... They are beautiful, and in a quiet voice she says where did you get them? It was pretty funny :)

Met a very nice (and particularly cute) waitress at 50's Prime Time named Scarlet. We were talking for a while about the college program and her background and learned she had a lot of stage combat training and was about to audition for the woman's role (I forget the name) in the Indy Stunt Show. Always wished there was a way to follow up and see if she got in!

Today DH and I were walking through the queue at Buzz Lightyear, a minute or two from boarding and a CM popped up out of nowhere alongside of me. He asked if it was going to be me and him in one car and DH behind us. I told him sure, if he promises to help me raise my score, since I can never beat DH. Just before DH got into the car the CM told me "Hit the Robot's hand! Hit the Robot's hand!" and that turned out to be a very good tip!

Last year, Tinker Bell asked my DDs where they were from. The most clever of them answered she was from mommy's tummy. Thinker Bell started to giggle and answered she was from a flower. She then proceded to go see the other fairies and whisper to them what my DD said and they all broke out in giggle and of course they all shared that they came from flowers too

The year before, one of my DDs danced with the Prince at 1900 park Fair. Shortly after we were visited by Lady Tremaine who of course proceded to being her old crappy self. She told my DDs they should always behave and listen to mommy or she would punish them. My little clever one once again had a nice answer for her. She asked her if her daughters listened to her and if she punished them because she sure remember them not being so nice. Lady Tremain turn around to regroup and crack a smile to come back with a complet different subject of conversation. She asked if they had seen the Prince yet. Once again my DD told her she had danced with him and was in Love with him and then proceded to ask her if she was going to answer her question because she needed to know if it was only Cinderella always in trouble. Lady Tremaine seriously started to laugh right then and there and told me I had a clever kid and to lock my windows and doors once she becomes a teenager.

I don't know if I'd say my story was a CM breaking character, or breaking into another character.

We were at the MNSSHP a few years ago, and DH was dressed as a Jedi Knight. as we entered the park and passed by some of the Main Street CMs waving with the big white gloves, one older gentleman beckoned us over and called out, "Master Jedi! A moment, if you please?"

DH and I were still new to the Disney magic, so we had no idea what this guy wanted. We walked over, and the CM leaned toward us and in a conspiratorial tone said, "Master Jedi, I have seen many Sith entering the park this evening. I too, am a Jedi, though undercover. When the word is given, be ready to act."

DH and I managed to pick our jaws up, and nodded to the man. DH said, "May the Force be with you," and we moved on into the park grinning like fools.

I was at Mickey's Surf's Up breakfast at the PCH Grill when Stitch noticed my princess Disney Dooney sitting on the table Stitch picked it up and was checking it out admiring it (it's the black satchel with the multicolored zipper it gets a LOT of comments every it goes with me) Then Stitch clearly remembered which character she was that day and put it back on the table pretending not to like it. Daisy admired it too and posed with it but you'd expect that from such a fashionable duck!

LOL! Stitch needs to hang out less with Lilo.

Not a real conversation but a slip. I once was trying to keep a line from interrupting an exit. I was just finishing the last word of my spiel feeling so proud that it sounded so professional when I saw the bag of the last guest in line. Before I could stop myself I go right in the same sentence "Oh, that bag is beautiful!" Everyone got a nice chuckle out of it.

I had taken my DD to breakfast at Cape May Cafe on her birthday and Goofy came over and sat with us. He was scribbling on the table (paper cloth) and asked us where we were from. When my DD wrote the city we live in, he wrote "Goofy loves Seabreeze" - this is an amusement park in our area!!! We were blown away!

Exactly how did Goofy ask you this when he can't talk? :confused3

Did he write it?

While at the photo-spot for the visa card holders in Epcot a couple years ago, Mickey, Pluto and another character (I think maybe Minnie) all accidentally busted out laughing and we were escorted out of the meet and greet room. My friend was having very un-coordinated day and was struggling to get her three kids together for a picture with the diaper bag, camera, etc in her hands and she ended up accidentally dropping everything on the floor as she tripped. The characters just "looked at each other". The picture was taken, my friends youngest child (2+) decided he should run out of the room, and when she was gathering her stuff off the ground to run after him, she turned and ran right into the wall and fell. Everyone in the room started laughing, including the characters which immediately turned around and faced the wall, while the cast members quickly escorted us out.

The incident looked like something out of a 3 stooges episode.

In 09 at BBB one of the Fairy Godmothers in training was from our hometown. We live in a very small town. As she was check us in, I made a few local jokes to her. It just blew her mind. I chatted with her about Disney and being from Pa. During my daughter's sitting she came over and thanked me for making her day. I told her she actually made my day. I told her if she wanted, I would hand deliver anything to her family, since they own a local business. She started to tear up a bit. She ran off and wrote out a letter to her parents ( I guess, I didnt read it). She also gave me 4 'use anywhere FP's' At the bottom for the reason it stated something along the lines King Daddee Royal Messenger.
Since it had that I never used them. She gave us something else also but I do not recall what it was. The day after I got home, I delivered her note. I saw as I was walking out of her parents business, Her mom was tearing up also. She ran out and gave me a hug.

We had a wonderful waitress at 50s Prime Time over Christmas that asked us where we were from. We said we lived in Germany, and that my dad was deployed at the time. She then mentioned that another waitress was about to move with her Army boyfriend, and how they were all excited for her. As we were about to leave, she gave us the light-up Buzz clip as a little token.

It was wonderful. ^_^

Back in 2006, we were on the Safari, and were stuck waiting for some animal to clear the path for a while.

The CM started talking about Disneyland - and how every attraction was so much better at Disneyland than WDW...

I've occasionally struck up conversations with CMs while waiting for various things, like Rider Switch. Most I've seen enjoy a good conversation, although most of them weren't necessarily "character" CMs.

I did speak with one of the World Showcase Players briefly out of character - he looked like one of the alums from the Adventurers Club, but he admitted that he was occasionally confused with one of them, but that Carl (one of the others) WAS from there (which I knew, he was often Otis T. Wren, including on the final day when he finally won the Balderdash Cup!), but I didn't get a chance to talk to him.

I did tease a HM CM once who was IN character...shortly after the refurb when we went, it didn't open on time due to difficulties. The CM started quoting Ghostbusters, although merging some lines - "Dimensional cross rip of biblical proportions", etc. - and I had to admonish him for quoting from a competing franchise...

I was wearing a Ghostbusters shirt at our Hollywood Studios day back in 2010 (seemed the most appropriate thing I had for that park) and I had quite a few cast members calling me out on it, quote lines, and so on.

I found out later that apparently the movie had been playing in a break room during the day so it was fresh on the minds of some of the CMs in the park.

This reminds me of a wonderful waitress we had at Sci-Fi during our last trip. DH and I happen to notice where she was from, and it so happened that she was from my DH's hometown of Springfield, IL. DH and her started talking about H.S. and where each other went, and they found out they had a couple of mutual friends together. It was really neat to find someone who lived and grew up in the same town as DH....it was such a small world :goodvibes.
