DS will be 11 mo when we arrive in the happiest place on earth. Still on warm formula bottles -- should I bring ready-made or powder? Is it easier to heat a bottle or get hot water to make? Hot water will probably be TOO hot so that might not work. I am going back and forth every day and need some been there, done that advice!!

PS -- staying at Grand Floridian (concierge) 4 nights and then Disney cruise for 3 nights! Can't wait!!!!

Since you are staying concierge, you can probably get hot water and fill up a thermos before you hit the parks. That way the water won't be too hot...and if it is just mix it up with some normal water. I don't know how easy it is to heat up a bottle in the parks.. HTH.

Hey Maura,
Is your DS used to the ready made? If he is I would go with that. My boys didn't like it because it seemed thicker.
A lot of people don't like the taste of the water there so they bring some kind of water filtration system like Brita. I'm thinking of getting one that attaches to the sink or getting a pitcher so I can filter before going to the parks. The fill and go bottles are discontinued but you can still find them in some Walmarts in the plumbing department or where other Brita stuff is. For the powdered I would think that hot tap water would be warm enough or in a sit down restaurant you could get hot water for tea and mix it with ice water. If you get a grocery stop with your Disney transportation from the airport(if you are flying) then you can pick up cans at the grocery instead of lugging them in a suitcase.
I've never been on the cruise so I'm not sure about their water.
Hope I helped and welcome to The Dis
By the way, where is Westwood? Is it near Wildwood? I'm originally from Cape May.

We did the ready made and just slowly adapted our DS to drinking at room temp before the trip. Each day we would make it a little less warm and he never noticed the difference.

You guys are great! :cheer2: I think we will go ready-made and get him used to room-temp. We have 13 days to go so maybe he can get used to it by then.

Westwood is near New York in Bergen County -- near Ridgewood.

I will probably be asking questions daily -- THANKS DisBoard!

I agree with bringing ready made and get him used to room temp if you can, just to make it easier, especially in parks.

Besides that the water tastes "different" we found that when ours were on formula, a change in water systems also could bring diarrhea. So when we did use powdered, we always used bottled water to mix it.

Have a great time !

My dd is mostly nursed, but gets one bottle a day of formula, which I don't want to stop for the trip because I am afraid she won't take it at all when we get back. I switched her to powder because she doesn't drink a lot and won't drink 8 ounces at a time. Doesn't the ready made formula have to be refrigerated once it is opened? That is why I switched to powder thinking it would be easier- just use the bottled water at room temp?

We did the same, gradually warmed the bottle a little less each time until dd was taking formula at room temp, except we used the powder. You can use either the powder tubes or the container with the divided slots to premeasure the amount of powder. I just brought a couple baby bottles with the water already in them and then added the powder as needed. We used the nursery or dannon water with the floride. I also carried an extra bottle of water just in case but that was easily found at WDW although pricey.

Have fun

My DS would not tolerate the powder formula. He always got sick when we tried it.

So when we took him to Disney when he was 9 months old, we carried the 8 oz pop top ready to feed can & the nursettes (those are also what we carried in the diaper bag at home).

They are room temp & do not need to be refridgerated (unless they are opened).

Very convient & well worth the price! We did not have to worry about keeping the formula cold or heating it up when we needed it. And you can keep them out of the fridge (as long as they are not open) until the expire.

DS was 5 months our last trip and could only tolerate ready to feed formula (and Dr. Brown bottles - a real pain while away!!). I brought a few 32 oz. cans for the room and a bunch of the 8 oz. cans that open like a soda can.

In our room we used one of these.... http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...3/sr=2-2/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_2/102-4929570-2600123 and when we were in the parks I'd ask for a cup of hot water from any concession stand. When they saw it was for a bottle they never charged me.
