Kim, the leftovers are ready and waiting. I made a HUGE batch of chili last night to get rid of some of our unused hamburger. Good idea, huh? Brought Chicken Marsala for lunch. Mmmmm.

It was another one of those nights where I fell asleep in the girl's bed. More comfortable than the floor in the boy's room. I really need to buy him a big bed, I just don't fit in the crib anymore.

First, Steph ~ hugs, prayers and pixie dust for you and your husband having to go through that. As others have said, it is a loss even now as the mother that he knew is disappearing before his eyes. I am thinking of you.

Tink ~ love the pic. Echo what others have said about Richard. It's no wonder the hoochies are chasing him. We are sure this doesn't have anything to do with his previous internet, ummmmm, experiment, right?

Disfan ~ WELCOME HOME!!! Can't wait to read about your trip. If you are, in fact, going to write about it. I need to know where. And LOVE the pic of Plutopants! Can't wait to meet the little guy!

Rhonda, NM ~ glad the kiddos had good first days of school. Audrey is in 4k this year too, but at the daycare that she has gone to since she started daycare, so she was just really excited about moving up to that class. And I listened closely to her recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, I thought the best part was "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and run to the Publix, for which it stands . . ."

Mel ~ Lurker. Please visit more often. I promise not to put in any dancing naners. Much.

Sher ~ I hate being left out. Just sadin'. Even amongst the cool kids I'm not cool. Dwats.

Finally, HORSEY ~ Have a fabulous trip my little ponygirl! Take lots of pics and make lots of memories! We will miss you while you are gone, but look forward to your return and the in-person meet in 40 days!

And they've added candy to the end of the parade, apparently.

My all-time favorite was our neighbors' kid. The Olsens. Harold and Connie. Their son learned the "Our Father" in Sunday School.

Two books to recommend:
The Know-It-All by AJ Jacobs. FOFF. I read it over a year ago and still silent shake when I think of it. Jacobs may be in Mel's family tree.
Ahab's Wife, by Sena Jeter Naslund. Lovely, lyrical. Made me think of you Noreasterners, especially horsey because of the sea and sailing references. This one took me much of the summer since you people took the rest of it.
