I am so very sorry. And you are correct, this is the right place to come. Because while we might not have known that young man, it has impacted you, and we care deeply about you in a personal way, the same way we care deeply about him in an abstract way.

So, I am deeply touched by the wonderful words posted by others, and echo them.

And I will pray for you, and for his family, as it will be very hard to come to terms with why sometimes lives are cut short when they are just beginning.

Sooo sorry to hear of your friends' tragedy. It is so true that we are here for but a short time, and have to appreciate life, and our loved ones, with all our hearts and spirits while we have the chance. The longer you live, the more you see and hear about senseless tragedies such as this. I try to never take those precious to me for granted, and although I did not grow up in an emotionally effusive family, Jay and I make it a point to set that example for our boys. Rarely an hour goes by in our household without someone saying "I love you" to someone else Although I hope we are all around for a long time, I would never want to think that my affections went unexpressed or, worse, unrealized. To family OR friends. And that includes all you crazy people. That's why LY/MI will NEVER be played in my book. Cause when I say it, I generally mean it!!!!

YAJ, love the photo. I, too, am partial to curls, though, like Kim, it may be due to my painfully fine, straight hair. I have curl envy. I admit it. I would def. keep the siggie, though. It's nice to see the two styles in the two signatures.

I think I was asleep by 8:30)... talking to the fiance of a girl we knew (age 20ish) who was killed in a car accident back in June. He slept in a bit this morning. I'm certain he will check in at some point, and will share something profound with us all. Or at least... SOMETHING with us all.

After doing much research, I decided upon the Panasonic DMC-LZ2--lightweight, superb features, great pics, good predicted reliability, and it can use nearly any style battery from lithium, to rechargeable, to standard. And it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Is it wrong that I am too lazy to do my own exhaustive research, and will likely just take the word of my internet friends? Though so far, D, you and your Panasonic are outnumbered 4-1 here on M2.

Love the pics, everybody! No way I can remember them all, but there were some beautiful ladies and some very cute kids in the last few days. I'm so excited for all of you getting to meet in just a little over a month.

And Pongo, 9 months ago this coming Saturday I got married, and I still get the "flutters" - congratulations, have a great time, and DEFINITELY show us some pictures!

Most Canons get high marks all around, but their cost is usually more than Panasonics. Given my relatively crappy skills, I couldn't see dropping extra dough on a more expensive model. Plus, mine has the image stabilizer ability; not sure if the comparable Canon does. However, a decently priced Canon with image stabilizer, good zoom capability, and the ability to use cheaper batteries in a pinch would be a good choice I'm thinkin'.

Great camera with a 10X optical for nice zoom action. It is a little chunky though so I bought DF a tiny Nikon which I also like.

I'm kinda/sorta caught up. We're rocking and rolling around here on our last week before school, cramming in all the fun stuff we possibly can! Cuteness all around on here I say. What great pictures! Kim and Ash!!! Too cute! YAJ...I think the straight version rocks! You are just divine either way!!! Amy, that is one awesome dress you made and one super cute girl in it!
