Reading, seeing and hearing Part 2

WAAAAAY down page 2.....

Pooh - I have been "surfing" the CB this morning after some strange thread titles appeared yesterday - there is obviously some drama going on. Lots of folks frustrated with the "new direction" of the CB...makes for some interesting reading. But only if your daughter is sleeping over at a friend's house, your son is still asleep, and your husband is already on the golf course. If you have anything worthwhile happening in your life, don't bother. :teeth:

LaLa - We are hooked!! We watched 6 episodes last night and can't wait until tonight. Now we regret that we have folks coming over today! And for the first time EVER - DH said last night he wished he wasn't playing golf this morning!! I have to say that watching the season DVD is the way to go. No commercials and you don't have to wait to find out what happens. Therefore decreasing the chances that you'll forget what's ALREADY happened.

But more importantly, aren't hot dogs and pig lips the same thing? To be fair, maybe you should conduct the taste test without blindfolds. It might be too hard otherwise. And I do love me a hotdog off the grill. Just don't tell me what's in it.

Anyone else serving "Bubba Burgers" to their company today? Is that just a southern thing?

Chap - I am SOOOO sorry about your water damage. That just stinks. No other way around it. Hope things are looking a little better today.

GaCat - Hey girl!!

Ash - Sorry you didn't want to come over today, but glad you think DH is a good cook. We'll miss ya'll. ;)

Frick - In my shock over seeing my real name revealed on this thread, I did not notice your new doorbell. It's lovely...really. It's just that the furniture is a little too classy for it. Something to think about before you take off those tags.

HAPPY FOURTH EVERYONE!!!!!!

Good Morning and Happy Fourth of July!!!!!

LaLa! That is disgusting! At least I'm not gagging this time since you left them in the jars and didn't take them out for a close-up. You and your meat. Our local Piggly Wiggly has fresh frog legs in the meat dept...which traumatizes our boys since they have frogs for pets!

Chappie! So sorry to hear about your little flood....hope you at least get to rest a little.

NM? So you don't think our doorbell goes with our new digs? What about our car?

Pooh...glad I made you smile! :) Nope, unfortunately, no one has shown any interest in our angel. She did go to obedience school for 3 weeks...couldn't you all tell? She was laying down in one of the pictures I posted. :teeth:

Jamal Your statement about the hose was pretty darn funny. It would make a lovely tag!!!

Hope everyone has a safe and fun-filled (or relaxing) day!

Oh, the shame!!!!!!!!

Page THREE!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

BUMP!

I just posted to the Do you think Dan Murphy's account thread. There were tons of complaints about the 'clique threads' that just make no sense to me. I don't know how to post a link, but it's post 102 on page 7 if anyone is interested. I bet I get lots of flames for what i said!

Blessings!

Chapter 11 said:
Hey all. Drive by posting here. Been an eventful few days. Went to the pool yesterday with the kids, and when we returned home, after a couple of hours, noticed water pouring out of the garage (which is in the basement). Said to myself "hmmm, that's unusual". Went upstairs, and it was raining on the first floor. Said to myself "hmmm, no rain was in the forecast, and in any event, it certainly didn't call for showers indoors". Went up to the 2nd floor, where the laundry room is, and discovered that the hose to the washer machine had split, thereby flooding the house. Said to myself "well, I've been meaning to get the carpets cleaned for awhile now". We've been spending the last day and 1/2 drying out and trying to assess the damage. Oy. Hope everyone else is having a safe (and dry), holiday weekend.

Geesh, that stinks. So sorry it rained all over your house. It sounds like you had a lot of water in there, yikes.

Try and have a Happy 4th. :moped:

Hey all. Here's what I posted on the Dan Murphy thread.

I'm going to weigh in here. Admitedly, I've only been a part of these boards for a little over a year. So, I don't know what the Community Board was like "way back when". But, I'd like to refresh everyone's memory of the definition of the word Community....

1 : a unified body of individuals: as a : STATE, COMMONWEALTH b : the people with common interests living in a particular area; broadly : the area itself <the problems of a large community> c : an interacting population of various kinds of individuals (as species) in a common location d : a group of people with a common characteristic or interest living together within a larger society <a community of retired persons> e : a group linked by a common policy f : a body of persons or nations having a common history or common social, economic, and political interests <the international community> g : a body of persons of common and especially professional interests scattered through a larger society <the academic community>
2 : society at large
3 a : joint ownership or participation <community of goods> b : common character : LIKENESS <community of interests> c : social activity : FELLOWSHIP d : a social state or condition

By very definition the Community Board is, or should be a place where everyone, from all walks of life, with different beliefs can come together.

Take a look at the part I bolded. Better yet, I'll repeat it here. a group of people with a common characteristic or interest living together within a larger society That's what the individual threads are.

The beauty of our "community" is that everyone has, or should have (adhering to the guidelines of course), the right to post their thoughts. Or play their games. Or greet their friends. Without reservation. And without judgement.

I'm reposting it here because apparently some dissers think we are a clique. I say we are a community. A community I feel priviledged to belong to.

Happy 4th!

Kitty! Chappie (sorry about the water dude), Sher!!!!!!!!, Horseybaby, Joe, La2, Rhonda , Em's Mom, Grammy, Hauntie, Pongo, Tink, Java, Shelby, Brandt, 2IAB, Kim, SNAP, Susan, Donna, Minnie, Frinkles, MommyP, NMarie, NAB , MSG, ODG, H2O, PMM, Minnie, YAK, spectrum-turbo (Back yet?), MarkyMark , Lou (is that your real name?), Ed (photos, dude, we need pictures), Master G (talk to Johnny yet?), hooP , ZZUB (cause you skim, caught you looking), Pooh, DisneyMommyM, Pooh2, Plutopants, Jamal, Mr. Silly (lurker), Sid (Ninja), dpan (may I call you that?), connersmom, Mrs Lou,

and everyone who wishes to be shouted at, and anyone I might have forgotten, and all the lurkers, and all the people who never even read this thread, hello to ALL of you.

I will say this, as I said in my post over on the other threads. Are there inside jokes occasionaly - that even I don't get? Yes. Are we freinds? yes! Does it matter that we don't know everyone on these boards? No. Have most posters been welcomed here? Yeah I think so. There are a few folks that haven't been accepted openly - mainly because their posts were happening like 50 times in a minute. But even now, I think most have welcomed them in.

This whole thing is silly, really.

Can't we all just get along? I deal with this crap in my church (Though not so much anymore - cause the atitude of my church has changed tremendously! - Praise God!). Where the 'old timers' want to hold on to the past and can't see the value in the new. I've had to deal with that in every church I've served at some level. It's immature, it's sad.

I am not mad at the mods. I am not mad at the other posters. In fact, I wouldn't say I'm mad at all. Color me just rolling my eyes at how immature a bunch of adults can be at times.

I'm off to enjoy the 4th with RHonda and Wesley. Hope everyone else will have a great day too!

Blessings!

Happy Eating!

Germany vs Italy playing right now in my home town in Germany! How cool is that?
Talked to my mom on Sunday and she said people were camping around in the fields outside of town to get to the game.

Both been 3 times world champs, so this is a very intense game.

Hubby and son are watching the game eating crab legs and drinking beer with 61" HD TV turned on HIGH volume for extra effect! In honor of the day, hubby is wearing a Hofbrauhause tshirt and son one with the German eagle emblem.

Silly daughter decided to go to the beach today at 11am, and now can't get back in time, cause, guess what, THE SHUTTLE WENT OFF TODAY, and there are hugh TRAFFIC backups! Who'd have thunk.....

Update at 5:15pm: Daughter and B/F finally made it home from the beach. B/F bought some Corona's, DD donned a scarf with german colors, hubby added a german hat, and we are still in overtime at 0:0....

Update 5:32 pm: DANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy 4th to all you !!!!! :cheer2

Hope your having a great day. :wave2:

MarkyMark - Your words as always are well written and I think convey what this thread is all about. I have come to think during the day I wonder what "so and so" would think of this. A community of people with like interests that have been welcoming to all that have found there way here. I count myself as very blessed to be a part of it :goodvibes

HAPPY AND SAFE 4TH TO YOU ALL party:

MarkyMark,

Very well said. I was thinking earlier of a theme song, something along the lines of "Anatevka", but substituting "Maelstrom Village"

Just looked up the lyrics, and they are too depressing for this thread. Maybe Hoop or one of our other talented Strommers could come up with something.

Happy 4th!

Hope everyone is enjoying their 4th of July! Independence Day, that is. Would that imply independence to chat with our friends on a community board?! Hope so!!!

Anyway, I read the first 2 pages of the so-called "Dan Murphy thread" (and they're critcizing us??!!). Will have to check out the new posts :) Mark, you are so right. I am often amused to see what piddly issues cause angst for groups of "adults". Why can't everyone just get along?? (Like WE do!!! ) And, Pooh, I appreciated your Horsey thread. I'm sure she would've too. If she coulda seen it before it was pulled. (It was, right? The link wouldn't work...) Finally, I found it interesting that WM Kathy recommended posting to the Maelstrom thread. Wasn't that locked some time ago.......?? (J/K, no offense intended to the mods.... :teeth: )

Oh, and tell hooP, I can kinda relate. I am surrounded by men in my house. Don't think it's masculinated (?) me though. Just makes it easier to get my hands on the hair dryer :teeth:

CHAPPIE, poor baby. I hope your house dries out quickly. What a bummer! You and Melly may have to compare notes when she gets back. Jami, no comment on the leaky hoses.....

NM, sorry we couldn't make it. But we're kinda big eaters, so I guess it just meant more of your hubby's good food for everyone else!! :rotfl2:

I just finished reading a book, and have a few quiet minutes before the "boys" return from the movies. Sooooo happy to be relaxing. Sooooo not happy that I have to return to work tomorrow. :sad2:

I'll check in later....assuming someone will be here?????

Happy 4th!!!! party:

Just checking in.

We are in International Falls, MN for the 4th.

I am really glad that the feet pictures stopped and for the record:
  • I can curl my tongue (without any cramps)
  • I have to shave my big toe on occasion (that might be too much info)
  • My earlobe is not conected to my face (it's a flapper)
I am off to look at Canada :clown: ....I will try to catch up the rest of the way after the fireworks

Happy 4th Everyone!!!!
Enjoy and stay safe!!
Keep all your digits intact please!!!

How come I'm now obsessed with looking at peoples feet in sandals to see if they are following the 'rules'? There are some NASTY feet out there and for criminey sakes people...if your polish is chipped...RE-POLISH!!! (That was just a general reminder to anyone reading this thread that does not know the sandal pledge...shave your toes...polish your nails, loofah all corns/dry skin and moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!!!)

Skinny dipping anyone?

The things people here are starting to notice, LOL, hairy pig lips and bad sandal feet... among other things, I am sure .
