Reading bad things on Delta getting nervous opinions Please

Also, if you read the 'fine print' you will find that the airline says they will provide you with transportation on that day....leaving them plenty of wiggle room for changes. I tend to book Delta a lot. However, I realize that they are going to make many changes to my flight if I book way before my flight. So, I check on my flights every day....I'm flying in Oct..I think they're done making changes to that flight now.
We have to realize that air travel is not the same as it was 20 years ago. Prices are down, making it more affordable for the middle class to fly more often. We actually got really used to very low fares in the recent past. When I first started flying on a regular basis, I thought that anything in the $250 range for a direct flight from Boston to Orlando was incredible. Now, after the past few years, I cry if I have to pay $225 for that same flight!!! I liked my $170 fares!!! Ah well...that's what it now costs to fill up my Escape, so I gues I can't complain about the higher airfares.
So....book at a price that you feel is good for the times that most closely meet your needs. Do not make any 'special' plans for your arrival day in WDW....your flight times can change and you'll be stressed about making it to that special ADR!! Check your flights every week or so...just to be on the safe side.

(Nashville, home of the incompetent and rude TSA agents... that's where I saw the TSA agent YELLING at a Grandmother becasue she was making his life hard by being in a wheelchair.... And where the guy checking my ID suggested I have my hair cut to match my 10 Year Old DL. I guess I need to get a face lift too... LOL!)

That's horrible! You should have reported them. I hate it when authority figures abuse their power. They didn't say anything to me about my ID picture which has me with Demi Moore Ghost short hair. My hair is long now. Maybe they thought I was wearing extensions. :teeth:

I usually fly Delta and have had very good results, however i just booked my Feb trip and went with Jetblue due to the uncertainty of delta's financial situation :confused3 didn't want to chance the loss of $1000 in airfare.

Oh I did.. On the Senior Citizen I spoke IMMEDIATELY to a supervisor (along with some others) I then wrote FORMAL complaints to the TSA, the airport, and ALL my elected officals..

I got a letter indicating the agent had been disciplined and I actually NEVER saw him again at a security at BNA!

Our choices for direct flights to MCO are Delta or SWA. With each one, there's a "downside" :sad2: ..............Delta, with its umpteen flight changes (whicch I usually only pick up when I browse our itinarary site), and SWA with its open seating. It comes with the territory. Neither is stress-free. :sad2: Just keep checking Delta's site.
So we just go with the cheapest :thumbsup2 .
Congratulations, and have a wonderful time. :yay:

I have read all your comments and agree that changes seem to come too often- but on many other airlines too. My sister has flown for Delta for 28 yrs, has seen many changes in personnel and regulations etc... On May 1st many changes were made as cost cutting measures - in routes, enveloping SONG back into Delta, times etc...and I am sure these changes impacted all phases of Delta.

No, we do not always fly Delta - whichever is the least expensive, actually, but I do believe that many of the airlines are experiencing similar problems.

We're flying Delta this October and there have been several changes since I bought our tickets last December. None of the changes were that big of a deal but the latest change resulted in our return flight layover in Atlanta going from 2 hours to 4 hours.

I was a little upset and was going over the flight changes with DH and DD (9). We had contemplated driving after the incident at Heathrow airport - much to DD's disappointment - but decided to stick with our original plans and fly. When I said "We have to sit in the airport for 4 hours!!" my DD responded "Well, it beats sitting in a car for 16 hours!!". True. ::yes::

You'll hear bad things about every airline. With the millions of people they carry, there are bound to be some that aren't happy. Kind of like Disney. But I haven't found Delta to be any better or worse than the others. My suggestion is not to worry about it and just go enjoy your vacation.

Delta was cheaper than SWA for me, so we picked Delta. I'm glad we did because we got to check our luggage with the hotel. This was the Monday after the new TSA regulations regarding liquids came out. Checking our luggage at the hotel was so convenient. The only line we had to stand in at the airport was 5 minutes long, which was the security line. Unfortunately, if you're flying SW, you can't check your bags at the hotel.

Anyhow, good luck with your trip and have fun!

I have flown Delta several times. We have had our tickets for November booked since February. They have changed a few times, but the Reissue Dept. has always been more than happy to assist in making sure that the times were convenient. In fact, when we first booked the tickets I did not know about MVMCP and had a 6:38 p.m. arrival into MCO. We figured we would get as much time out of it anyway and bought the tickets. For the 4th or 5th time we have had changes -- very minor, most of them just Flight Number changes, but today it changed our layover to a 3-hour layover. The woman on Delta offered to find other flights and asked if we could leave earlier. Now we are getting into MCO 3:30 instead of 6:30 and will have time to feed the children and get settled in somewhat before MVMCP. When they have made changes, most of the times they have already reissued our seats. We have a party of 7 traveling together with two small children so I check at least every two or three days to check for changes. All in all, they have been wonderful to deal with. In fact, I would rather they make occasional changes to ensure that they are filling the planes and keeping the costs down than having to raise ticket prices so high that normal families are not able to take vacations. :thumbsup2

Just came back last night and flew Delta. Yes, they had changed our flights a few times prior to the trip (booked early), but just called and had them re-issue our e-tickets. Had non-stop flights and took off and landed pretty much on time. Our plane down to MCO was a SONG plane and it still had the TV's in the seat in front of you. Our plane home was a regular Delta plane and I was afraid it wouldn't have the TV's, but it did. Actually seemed a little more leg room also. They do give you a free snack: soda, water, juice, coffee, etc. and either peanut butter crackers, peanuts, granola bar, biscotti, or sun chips. Bring your own earphones as SONG used to give them out free, but Delta charges $2.00 (but you can keep them).

Just came back Saturday on Delta. Flight was delayed 1 1/2 hrs going to MCO because we were waiting on the flight coming in from MCO to BMI. (There is only one nonstop flight daily going to and coming from MCO). Coming back from MCO, we were in the air about 10 minutes after scheduled departure so that wasn't bad at all. Both nonstop flights lasted only about 2 1/4 hrs.

All of the above posts make me glad I gave up on Delta a few years back.....after we had extensive delays on three trips in a row, horrible customer service experiences, and a baggage crew in Atlanta completely destroyed my grandson's very expensive stoller which we had gate checked as we boarded in Atlanta (and was just fine then) and by the time we got to MCO was in pieces. I know people complain about Southwest and how they don't put flight schedules out early enough, but, I can honestly say since we've been using SW exclusively the past few years that they have never changed a schedule once it's published by more than 1/2 hour. Yes, they do have delays also (our last trip was delayed by 2 hours due to bad weather in PHL ......which was where we were flying to) but, we've also been ahead of schedule on several occasions ......granted not by 2 hours, but, sometimes 1/2 hour early arriving. But, their excellent customer service more than makes up for any problems encountered.......not to mention their GREAT prices. Gotta go.......just got a DING from SW .......
