Reading all of these rumors is making my stomach turn.

At DHS I can safely say I have never done American idol or backlot tour. The captain jack sparrow thing was a joke. I'm a little sad about the hat though. The rest really won't be missed (by me anyway). I'm looking forward to those changes.

Like i mentioned before, I'm all for these new rides and attractions but Disney really need to keep the Theming exciting and not fall into the trap like Universal where they are all indoor rides in what look like massive boxes from the outside.

I agree, I've never tried the American Idol or backlot tour and don't feel like I missed too much. And sadly, we waited a crazy 40 minutes for the captain jack sparrow show/thing (never again). I hope HS makes great strides with their construction.

Maybe I can help list them: The Hub at MK - Construction Backlot Tour at DHS- Closed (no big loss) American Idol at DHS- Closed Legend of Jack Sparrow at DHS- Closed (again, no big loss) Maelstrom at Epcot-Closed for Frozen (don't get me started!!) Little Mermaid at MK-Closed for Remodel and whatever CRT is (an acronym I can't figure out for once!?!?!)

I didn't see the Little Mermaid closure, I am about to CRY!!!! We ride that thing at least a dozen times, it's DD3's absolute favorite!!!! That and CRT, which I was dealing with, but now what to do?!

I don't want to postpone for one ride, but it's her absolute FAVORITE!!!

I don't have a big issue with a lot of the closed areas at AK and some at DHS. The biggest problem Disney has at the moment is two of their parks are under major construction for a few years. During the slow times, I don't think things will be a big deal, maybe more traffic at Epcot and MK, but what are things going to be like during peak times? I imagine the parks will hit threshold levels quicker.

But in the long run, these additions will be awesome for Disney both parks, especially DHS were in need of new stuff for visitors. I do think the expansions at DHS would have waited until after AK's stuff was done or majority of it done. However when you aquire a brand like Star Wars, money is to be made. Thus they were kind of forced into a corner.

Excuse my ignorance but is the new FantasyLand totally complete and open now?

whats frustrating is that there's a lot of plans but nothings happening quickly. Disney Springs is fine because the shopping side is still open. Avatar Land (I'm still not convinced) doesn't affect anything else in the park but Hollywood Studios? eek its going to get real bad before it gets better

Right now a lot of the released refurbs are for January (a very typical time to do updates). A good number of these should be back open in February but I do sympathize. Luckily all my favorites will be open so while there will be some things closed, I don't really think I'll miss them.

The walls around the hub didn't bother me that much in September. Maybe because we go twice a year and like to see the progress. We watched 7 DMT be built from start to finish while riding Dumbo... I wonder where you can see them working on the hub... Maybe Astro Orbiter?!?

The TTA.

Maybe I'm just getting used to it, but it didn't seem as bad yesterday as it did earlier in the summer.

I've looked at photos, but can someone please explain what they are doing to the hub? How will it be different when finished? Thanks!:goodvibes
They are expanding it making it wider with more pathways for easier moving around during parades, fireworks etc. it gets extremely crowded in that area so they are expanding it so they have less of the congestion.

Nothing could be worse than California Adventure in mid 2011, construction walls everywhere. You could only get around through the perimeter of the park, the center was closed. But the end results were awesome!

Marketplace and pleasure island have been pretty hideous the last year or so as well...so much so I can barely stomach "sneaking" into Wolfgang pucks four times a week when I'm in town ;)

While I think it will be a bit disappointing that all the construction walls are around - I think people (and OP) are over-reacting to the amount of things that are closed.

Look at what has really closed at DHS:

American Idol - which unless you are a huge fan is no loss at all. It's something that was only added in the last 5 years as well.
The Backlot Tour - This has been a total shell of itself for the last 10 years. It actually was more or less a tram ride through a garbage dump.
Legend of Jack Sparrow - saw this just 2 weeks ago for the first time. It was OK, but nothing to really complain about or occupy more than 10 minutes of your time. Again, it was only here for 2 years, so before that you wouldn't have missed anything.
The HAT - even if they are taking it out - it's not an ATTRACTION. It's a big metal hat.

If I listed every attraction at DHS this would be the order I would put them in, from best to worst:
Toy Story Midway Mania
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
Star Tours: The Adventures Continue
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!
Fantasmic!
Muppet*Vision 3D
The Great Movie Ride
Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show
Jedi Training Academy
The Magic of Disney Animation
Walt Disney: One Man's Dream
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: Movie Set Adventure
Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow
Disney Junior Live on Stage
Studio Backlot Tour
The American Idol Experience

So, Out of 19 attractions, they've removed 3. Sure that's a good 16%, but still the things they HAVE removed are no great loss. There is still plenty in that park to do for a day, especially for someone that hasn't been. And as of right now, there is no noticable construction going on. Perhaps that will change between now and February. Perhaps not.

The construction walls in MK are not that bad. It's just the hub, the rest of the park is all open. As others have pointed out, the new Little Mermaid ride may be down for a time, but everything else at MK is open, and there is SOOO much here to do.

Epcot you really can't tell anything. Norway had it's ride closed. Otherwise, it's all the same. Plenty to do.

AK is probably the park with the most going on in terms of construction walls, though the Avatar stuff is all off to the side. My understanding with the Rivers of Light there are some walls up around Discovery river, but again, EVERYTHING is operating as normal, so you won't miss anything.

DTD is where its REALLY bad. But it's a shopping district. Skip it if you want, you won't have really missed anything.

So - calm down, relax, your trip will not be "RUINED". A few walls does not make or break your experience.

This. Keep Calm and Disney On.

Your use of logic and practical thinking is offensive.

Seriously, you've nailed it here. Construction walls are not necessarily pretty to look at, but they should hardly be allowed to get in the way of a fun vacation. A construction wall usually means they are, uh, constructing something behind it, which can only be a good thing. If there weren't construction walls up at DAK and presumably going up in the relatively near future at DHS, we all would and should be worried. But as it stands, new things are coming.

Obviously would love to have a time at some point when no walls are up at any of the parks, but that would mean that the status quo has become acceptable. I suspect the only time we will see WDW in that condition is in roughly seven years, when the 50th anniversary is upon us. That will be a big year, and I've got to believe that any and all of the new things being announced or seriously rumored (that flesh out to any degree at all) will likely be finished by 2021 (hopefully some of it a fair bit before then). Sounds like a long time from now, but it's really not. We took our kids to WDW for their first trip seven years ago...seems like yesterday.
