read this wd dining charged my card for reservationsd

Tricia,

I don't think it necessarily had to be a dining agent. It could have been anyone with access to:

1. her cc info
2. knowledge she had booked dining
3. knowledge of adr window timelines

It can be a company that handles the processing, but then, they would need the other information

Amanda, you are certainly right that credit card fraud can happen many places.

I clarified because you asked if it was possible that a Disney employee did this was broad, and most of the focus had been on the dining reservation agent. I felt it was important to be very clear so there is not an all out panic about the safety of making a dining reservation.

My advice to the OP is still that they handle this with their credit card company. There's an obvious breach of security here, and the best way to get restitution is through your credit card (not Disney). They are also best equipped to research this for you.

I just went back into my credit card statements from my trip last year, and the charge for my Epcot Segway tour was listed as "WDW DINE TICKETS Lake Buena Vista FL." (Tickets for MNSSHP were listed as "WDW DISNEY TICKETS Lake Buena Vista, FL.")

Did you reserve any tours or anything like that?

I definitely agree with calling the fraud department. They have "confidential" information they can't give to you?? The whole situation sounds fishy. I don't think that you should have too much trouble getting your money back. Working for a hotel, I know that unless we have name, address, and signature, it's next to impossible for us to win fraud disputes whenever people dispute their charges.

Good Luck!

okay i finally got an answer - but i had to call them again when they said they'd get right back to me hours ago. they used my credit card to book someone elses tours. thats it. no fraud. they said they are crediting my credit card within 3 days and i am now going to universal portofino bay for 7 nights in my favorite place in the world and commuting to disney for a couple days. thank you everyone for all your help.:cloud9:

I'm glad you discovered the problem. A few years ago, I remember the bank calling because an automatic debit came out of our account to Chase bank. This was 2 days after we paid a substantial amount to Chase and the bank flagged it. I wonder, though, how your cc info got put in. I would not think this was purposeful. Did you recently make a payment?

Also, I'm not a big "ask for something free" person, but for me this would warrant something for my troublesm $1100 is a big deal IMO

Glad that it all worked out for you! Scary though that they can use your credit card for other items. Is that why you switched from Disney to Universal Portofino Bay?

at no time was i asked for a credit card. at no time did i give them a credit card - as a matter of fact, they specifically told me there were no restaurants on there that required a credit card.

Then HOW did they use your card to book someone else's tours?

Call your CC company. Let them know what's happening. This isn't right. Their system shouldn't hold onto other peoples' CC info from one customer to the next, and I don't think CMs are helping more than one person at a time. So there doesn't seem to be a non-fraudulent way that this could happen at all.

I don't know why but something about this whole scenario just doesn't seem right. I honestly don't understand how Disney Dining would have access to credit card info unless you give it to them. I have used my credit card to secure a room booking at Disney before but have still had to give my credit card details again when booking tours. All smells a bit fishy to me :confused3

If your card was used to book someone else, I would urge you strongly to still tell the credit card company to mark it as fraud and request a new card (new account number) and watch your credit report....

Just to be safe I would get a new credit card! How would they use YOUR credit card to book someone else's things? That just doesn't even make sense. Your information should not have been on their screen at all. The person that did it may have been doing it for a friend/etc.. they could have written down your credit card info and then entered it when booking their friend/etc.

I'm glad that you caught it! I never even look at my credit card statements so I'm sure there are millions of other people out there getting ripped off (not just by Disney). My credit card got stolen once and I had no idea. My bank actually noticed it... I had stayed at a hotel a few hours from home so it must have triggered a pattern change in my credit card usage... that and the fact that the person had gone to five or six different places and just spent hundreds of dollars! I got the money back but don't know if they caught the person or anything. It had to have been the housekeeping at the hotel. I had accidentally left my wallet in the room when I left for the day. I went back to get it at lunch but didn't think to check and see if everything was still in it. That night my bank called and told me that they had cancelled the card and made sure that it wasn't in fact me that was making the purchases.

I'm so lost. How do you have deluxe dining when staying at Universal and why is it already paid for in full? I'm going in June before you but my package payment isn't due in full til May 1st. Did you just pay early? But, nonetheless, I thought DDP was for onsite guests?

I had paid for disney package with dxdp and was staying at port orleans. I cancelled and am staying at portofino instead. Its a breathtaking hotel and I don't have to worry about running around like a crazy person.everything is in one place.

That does sound a little crazy. Last year I was on the DP. Some reservations they require a cedit card to hold. When I got my statement in I was charged for the princess dining at the castle. They refunded me with no problem but it did take a while.

Wow, what a mess. I agree with the others who said you should still contact your credit card company and inform them of what happened. Unless some Disney CM screwed up and entered a wrong number when booking another's trip, that doesn't make sense. Actually, that still doesn't make sense because wouldn't the name and such have to match up for it to go through? Seriously, contact your CC company. Something isn't right here, IMO.

I'd probably definitely ask for a new credit card to be issued.

My guess is that whoever booked the tours, etc had a similar resort reservation # or a similar last name, something like that & it was just put through erroneously in your stored information. And yes, your credit card information is stored in their system. In fact it's stored in nearly every system when you shop. That's why it's so important to try to NEVER use your debit card online, etc b/c if your debit card gets ripped off, it's a lot harder to deal with (b/c the money is literally gone from your account) than your credit card. In fact, I no longer use my debit card anywhere that requires it leaving my hand or online.

I am a little confused!!! The new dine system, which tours are also booked in, does not retain CC's from guest to guest. And if the reservations you made for dining did not require a credit card then the dining CM had no access to your credit card. BUT, did you purchase park tickets? When you booked your resort stay did the same agent book your dine res??

Glad you got it figured out. But when I made my ADR and had a few that needed CC to hold, I had to give it to them EACH time. It wouldn't even hold form one ADR to the other in the system, so that is so weird that they used it to book some one elses stuff.
