What are people's thoughts about trying to get one ride in before 10am, vs. waiting so that you don't miss the 10am BG window (e.g. if you're in the middle of Slinky Dog Dash you won't be able to use your phone)?

We got in line for MMRR and it was 958 when we were about to go in the building. I panicked and bailed, but my au pair was able to get a bg from inside the building. So I think you're OK if you're not ON the ride. I personally didn't like the panic of being a line trying to time it; I think I would wait if I did it again. But, my group other than me got to do MMRR and I didn't, so...!!

You can also just let people walk in front of you if you're in line and about to board, the process takes less than 10 seconds

I found the 10am queue to open just about 20 seconds late today. It was pretty stressful since I was in a live situation helping someone for real. But the fact that I still got a decent BG tells me that it was 20 seconds late for everyone. Good info to know.

We were there on Thursday...had a resort only stay (almost), only one day in HS. We had not been to WDW since 2017 so a lot of new things we wanted to try! Of course main goal was RotR and we did it!! Woo Hoo!

After a week of practicing (thank you for the tip!!) here is how it all went down. I set my phone alarm for 9:55 AM and 1:55 PM for a week and practiced (and made my DD15 do the same..."I don't get this, Mom, it's simple!") We got to parking lot at 9:15 (they had the ramp to the toll/parking lot booths) closed until 9. At 9 we were allowed to get to the booths but they only opened at 9:15. DH dropped us off and we went through the temp check (go to the LEFT one...much shorter line, also a tip I read on here...thanks!). I was tempted to do M&MRR but was too nervous taht we would miss the 10AM boarding so instead walked back to Slinky which opened at 9:45. We were third in line and I was still nervous!

After the ride we walked to the entrance of TS and waited in the stroller parking area. I wanted to be in an area without a lot of other people. We both had the app open and kept refreshing, my DD used cellular and I used WiFi. It does take about 10-15 seconds after clock turns to 10 to actually see the "JOIN" come up and it seems like forever, but all the practicing helped! She was able to get us BG 5 (mine was slower or maybe I just am not as fast as her :) )!!! We needed to get there by 11:07. The people right next to us were even faster...they were BG 2! Not sure how they did that but they did. All BG's were gone in about 20 seconds. Crazy!

Thank you everyoen for the tips! I was so excited we made it onto the ride!

One of my final practices today, we fly out tomorrow and will be at HS on Tuesday...the join button didn’t show up for at least 10 seconds today (I haven’t had that happen yet on any attempts), once it showed up I was able to get through once, and by attempt 2 boarding groups were full.
Don't wait for the "Join" button to be enabled on the "Home" screen. Navigate to the Virtual Queues screen early and watch the clock time in the top left corner for it to turn 10 AM or 2 PM. It helps to have a second phone showing seconds help with your timing.

How to get to the Virtual Queues Screen:

Press the "Check Status" link from the "Home" screen about 1 minute before the BG window opens. Then when the time changes to 10 AM or 2 PM, press the "Join Virtual Queue" button. The other way to get to the Virtual Queues screen is to press the "More" button on the lower right of the "Home" screen (3 horizontal blue lines). This takes you to the "More" screen with all the buttons: Tickets and Passes, My Plans, and Virtual Queues...

We're going next week. Staying at AK Lodge Kidani Village. Does anyone know what time the buses start running in the mornings? Should we drive to HS instead or should we be able to get in the parks before 10 if we take the bus?

Theyre talking about the join button on the Join Virtual Queue page. Virtual queue was delayed by 15-20 seconds yesterday morning.

Alright y’all, my day is Wednesday and I have practiced at home many times and have been successful many times. How worried should I be?

Well the ride went back up and we rode it! I thought it was fantastic, but we had to spend a good chunk of time consoling my four year old who was terrified. Even my 8 year olds were a little nervous at parts but they enjoyed it in the end So in hindsight, maybe we should have waited a couple of years. Very appreciative of all the tips here—I still can’t believe it worked and we actually got group 2!!! Now I can relax the rest of the vacation.

Practicing was definitely key. Mu DH only practiced once (when I made him), and didn’t even get close to completing the process.

For others wondering about timing of the arrival process, we were at Riviera and walked along the lake path to the Caribbean beach skyliner stop, getting there around 8:30. We were probably about 20 groups back. By the time they started boarding at 9:06, the line was stretching back a loooooooong way. We were in HS at 8:20, went straight to MMRR and waited 25 mins, exiting the ride at 9:53, so perfect timing for BG selection. Definitely recommend that strategy as the line for MMRR built quick after 10am and is all in the sun.

Disappointed in the long wait times but will still enjoy our day. Now sipping a mojito at hollywood brown derby.

Your 4-year-old and I have that in common 😂 But did they like it or was it too intense for them? (No spoilers obv)

Yeah, the non spoiler explanation is he liked the resistance characters at first, but then he started to get a bit spooked by the first order, and he really lost it at a bit that gets more intense motion wise.
