Should people who got one from home notify Disney somehow?

Someone did. Major blogs are reporting this too, and I would have to think it’s at least one persons job somewhere in the company to monitor social media and the Disney internet community.

I have to think they know, and they just are not effectively communicating, as per usual.
 
So as usual, Disney is informing their CMs less than random people on the internet. Nice.

Poor CMs and poor guests. They need to at least alert the guest facing CMs in DHS that this did in fact happen, asap. Even if they can’t do anything, I feel like being able to be sympathetic to the guest would probably go further than nothing.
I feel for the CM more than for the guests at moments like these. The guest has the ability to salvage a bad moment and go have fun at the park or back at their hotel, the CM has to stand there for 8 hours and get yelled at. Be it that the front of the line doesn't really know what happened or they know but they were told to stay on script is atrocious
 
Hate to add to this exploding thread - but two points:

The poster that said they may have opened it up for a VIP group not in the park seems very likely. Good theory!

I am amazed that a group like Disney doesn't hire some intern or whatever to monitor social media / boards like this. You get the REAL story that way versus the company line that comes from the "suits" who really don't know what's going on.

If you search #RiseOfTheResistance on Twitter, you'll be able to see that people are reporting it there. But I would be willing to report mine elsewhere if I knew how/where.

Yep. This just happened to me too. I told her I just wanted to find out if I should try tomorrow or not waste my time. She told me everything today was the same as it’s been forever and I was wrong.

I'm so very sorry about this. Perhaps people should be pulling up Twitter where there are lots of screen shots?
 
I work as a customer service manager and the experience I had at GR after looking for nothing but information made me legit angry. Worst experience I’ve ever had at Disney GR by far.

Ah well. Nothing to be done about it now. Gl to everyone trying to ride today. Hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow.
 
and to be completely honest, if I had done my daily rounds of checking the app at 8am and gotten a bg, I would probably go there today. I blame my dog and his bodily function needs :D
Exactly. My flight landed just after 8:20. Had we practiced, we would have gotten one and used it.

Why would they need to do anything with boarding groups for VIPs? Just walk them to the ride before it starts accepting boarding groups. Not like they are telling Ben Affleck to go into his MDE and choose boarding group #1 now.
 
I never tried at home EVER but I did today and literally at exactly 8am it was on a backup boarding group. I read about people at home being able to obtain, when will disney just think of another alternative than the boarding group. I truly hope come our May trip there is another way of obtaining a boarding group.
 
This morning my app reset at 1 minute to 8 (got fireworks). My app also reset the morning after MDE had a really bad day (Sat?). So I think if you leave the app open and they change something on the back end, it reboots. Since that happened so late in the game this morning (I looked at the app 5 mins to 8 also), I think they did a last minute change this morning. If they were rushed to get it out it’s possible they missed setting something correctly (related to being in the park). I don’t know if it’s related to what there were changing or not really. It may have been something else related to park entry that then screwed up BGs. Who knows.

Even if IT knows I don’t know that they would have been able to flow that to the front lines so the GET folks probably don’t know yet. It will probably take BGs arrive smaller than expected or an emergency communique in an hour or so. But they should be handling it better
 
I agree. This does not seem like “oops I hit the wrong button.” Even if it was the tapstiles not communicating to the app who was in the park, that does not explain why people without park tickets were able to get a BG.

We don't know what the failsafe condition for the system is. If you can't talk to the park admissions system, do you tell the thousands of people in the park that they aren't there and reject them, or do you allow the handful of people playing the home game to get a BG? Which group do you want to deal with?

Because the regular groups start at 10, so 1-9 were used somewhere.
 
this is where it becomes a PR nightmare. So basically tell the guests they are liars

I wonder how to expose this and support the people there who are trying to tell them. Seems the most direct way would be to call and the most public way would be social media.
