Yup, went to Guest Relations and the only they they were able to do to help is rearrange my FP for tomorrow morning and tonight so that I can swap plans and try again then.

For iPhones, would you recommend turning Background Refresh on or off?

Leave it as the app initially sets it. The problem with MDE is not your phones.

its the App. Watch for updates and patch it as the updates become available.

Yeah it was nice of them. Drives me crazy though that no matter how early I show up I’m at the mercy of Disney IT. I may end up in the exact same situation tomorrow since my app has continued to be very buggy all day.

I had the exact same issue this time. Unfortunately, my phone also update the app. What used to take approximately 10 seconds to open took over 30 seconds to open. I had to completely shut down the app and restart in order to get the button to light up. I’ve been practicing for weeks with no issues and had my timing down to a T. This app change really sucks and I hope they fix things before my trip in a couple of weeks...

I have had weeks of no problem practicing from home. Could get so far in seconds. Updated app yesterday to latest and big problems this morning. I had to shut down the app and open again which took 15 seconds... so after fiddling initially trying to get "join a boarding group" active, toggling back and forth and finally shutting down the app and opening it was over 45 seconds and all boarding groups were gone. Maddening! I can imagine people in the park, in the same situation... did everything right to be in the park, knowing exactly what to do to get a boarding group to be shut out due to glitches in the App. Really worried that it will happen again when we visit HS next month.

Finally managed to ride with a recovery FP. Kids are in line for MFSR and I’m relaxing near the boat dock.

Seems we had the “B” version today, which was admittedly a bad one for Ride. 19 was finally called this am, then 20, but after only about 10 minutes in line (just inside the cave), we were rerouted outside and given recovery passes. We Skylinered over to Epcot and got some good Arts Fest time in, returning to the Rise line about 1:45. They sent us through the FastPass line and we started at the first main experience. (Thankfully, we did get to see the whole queue on Monday.)

I’m glad for the alternate experience, since now we have seen at least two things that could be different at any given time? Both are fabulous! What an experience in storytelling this “ride” is...I’m so happy for all of you who will be seeing it for the first time in the coming days!

We will Skyliner back to Epcot when the kids are done, have some dinner, then pack up for the journey home tomorrow. Bright suns, fellow travelers!

How many boarding groups are they doing a day on average? This morning was a nightmare and despite all the tips I followed neither my nor my husbands join button was changing. I’m a backup group #70

Is a backup group # the same as a boarding group #?

Backup bg are basically the same but for the fact that they won't give out a fp if the ride malfunctions. As you can see in thre chart they get to a lot of backup bg everyday, unless it's a really bad day, which the ride has had about 5 of them since opening

Lots of people are already in a crowd waiting for the rope to drop to go to MFSR prior to the official park opening and then the CMs calmly walk everyone there - and not really room to "bolt" - this photo is from yesterday morning via blog mickey. But yes, these would be the first in line for MFSR so earlier you get there closer to the front of this group you would be.

I would RD SDD if you are staying all day. MFSR was pretty much empty at 2 hours before close. 30 minute waits which is nothing considering the que is entertaining.

Sadly, we are NOT staying all day, though I could go back that night. My friends that are with us, are leaving that afternoon so at about 2pm we are headed to MK before they fly out. It's possible for us to go back, BUT, the bigger issue is that there are evening extra magic hours at HS so you can only imagine what THAT will be like. And I have a 9 year old that won't last that long- at least not after getting up before the chickens to do rope drop that morning at HS.

They are having a rough time today! It’s 3:43 pm, I’m boarding group 70 and I’ve been notified I won’t get on today. Darn! It’s our last day too. They are only at 45

Attached is screenshot from my instapost. We were off the ride by 8:50 am I think. It went pretty fast, walking almost the entire time. We didn’t get to HS entrance until 7:20 or so.

GULP. But people are moving? And you arrived at the park entrance at 7:20 for an 8:00 am opening?

This is giving me nightmares remembering the Frozen frenzy at Epcot not so long ago. I still wake up in a sweat thinking about that disaster.
