I am under the impression that everyone who is linked together will show up in your party and hence on that list on the ROTR/BG page. If all those people are tapped into the park, they'll all be preselected/checked off for the BG. If they're not all in the park, you're going to get the note that says "Hold up, is everyone in your group in the park?" etc and then taking too long to deal with that, you won't get a BG. At least this was what was explained to me on the phone last week w/ the CM, and she cited the MagicBands as the culprit--which is why I wasn't able to remove the person myself in the MDE app (a Guest cannot kill a MagicBand I guess) and why I insisted that the person be separated from her MB and be removed from our party by the CM. I (or the CM ha ha) could be wrong so if anyone else knows better feel free to chime in, but this is what I understood as it related to our situation. 🤷‍♀️(And, most importantly, it worked as she was finally removed, the 4 of us were automatically checked, and we got a BG!)
My understanding was that with the update if they are in the park with you they will be checked off, and if they aren’t in the park they will be there but not checked, since they aren’t checked you won’t get the not so fast error, and will still get a BG for everyone in the park. I’m curious to hear reports and see if anyone has gotten this error or been slowed down by having people in their group who weren’t in the park since the update (obviously before the update it slowed people down because they couldn’t just click select all and would have to pick names from the list).

Can I please get some opinions on my HS strategy?

I am staying at POP, and have a breakfast ressie at Trattoria at 7:45. I am going to Uber to BW for that. My plan is then to walk from Trattoria to HS. Will I have enough time to hoof it over there after breakfast and get in line for MMRR before trying to get a BG at 10?

I did just now and same message. I am going to try the chat and see if it helps. If not, I will call.

So weird! You'd think removing a name would be one of the easier technological feats out there...

Thank you!

I don't know if you figured this problem out yet, but one thing to try is to go into your MDE under ticket and passes and make sure that the people you don't want anymore don't have any active ticket media. Also check for active magic bands. I had to go in and manually deactivate old ticket/room keys (even though they were expired) and then I was able to delete the people after that.

Hope that helps!

This all comes down to how long your breakfast takes and how close you want to be to the front of the line for MMRR.

This may be more than what you want to know, but as a data point, having utilized a similar strategy multiple times, we typically left BW about 8:20 so we could take a leisurely walk to DHS and be near the front the holding line. For your planning purposes, I'd expect the walk to take about 5-10 minutes depending on your pace. It was important to us to be near the front of the line in order to get into the air conditioned portion of the queue for MMRR and get the ride completed with plenty of time to spare. In our case with what I've described and with MMRR actually starting operations at 9:30, we typically got off MMRR at about 9:40 each day and then made our way to RoTR.

On a typical day, when arriving at DHS via the BW path, you will be held near the Skyliner station and restrooms until approximately 9:00 AM or when the first guests start arriving via the Skyliner. There were about 50-60 people in line once it started moving at 9. At that point, security will lead an orderly walk up past the Skyliner station and to the temp screening tents where they will start actually taking temps at about 9:15. From there you'll go through the X-ray machines and then to the DHS entry points. Once through the entry points, it is chaotic and crowded. Head up the street staying toward the left as you'll need to go around the left side of the stage to enter the MMRR queue.

With all of this being said, it's no guarantee that MMRR will actually start running 30 minutes prior to actual park open and it's completely up the ride operations managers. In fact, there were multiple reports today that the ride did NOT start operating at 9:30 as it had been. FWIW, many have reported being able to secure a BG while in the MMRR queue. Obviously this will depend on your device, carrier, signal, etc.

We were in the MMRR queue this morning, when they didn't open ANY rides before 10 AM. We're staying in BWV, so we walked over at 8:50. We're disappointed that they didn't open anything early, because the residual wait times are way higher than they would have been. That being said, I'm on Sprint, and got BG 5. Everyone around us got a BG. Was hoping to hit Slinky afterwards, but wait was already 80 mins.

Hi, thanks for that.

It has not been resolved; chat in the app isn't working and chat on the website isn't available. I have emailed them to see if that does anything.

The weird thing is that the only reason all those "other" people (they're my kids lol) are even on there is because a few years ago I tentatively planned a WDW trip that never happened.

They've never had a magic band, or been on a hotel reservation, or anything.

It seems like it should be so easy from an IT perspective to REMOVE something! Apparently it isn't easy at all!

Yea that's unfortunate and why I always put the caveat in my posts. These early attraction openings are simply not guaranteed. On the bright side, I'm glad you got a good BG and hope you have a great day at DHS!

It seems like it's going to affect the whole day, since wait times are really high across the board, and ToT isn't running yet. Add to that that the park seems REALLY crowded compared to what I've been hearing, and it's not a really efficient day. If they're going to let this many people in the park, they need to fill more of the seats on the rides. I can sit 18 inches away from someone for two hours on the plane here, I can handle 3 minutes on a ride.

Are there busses running from CBR to the BW early morning? I'd love to take the Skyliner over to HS but that sounds risky. Grabbing a bite then walking over seems a bit more in my control as far as timing goes.

We were at HS 9/27 and 10/1. Got boarding group 38 on 9/27 while in line for MMRR and on 10/1 got bg 39 while on TSMM using Verizon wireless. 3 of us tried and all of us were at the join but of course since it automatically adds your party that has scanned into the park it was easier than adding. We don’t really know who got through.

I believe you're asking if buses are running from Caribbean Beach to the Boardwalk early morning? If so, buses don't travel this route. You would need to find alternative transportation early in the morning. Possibly take a bus from CBR to a park and then a bus from that park to a BW resort?

The only buses that run to BW are park/DS busses.

ah! good to know. Thank you for the info. Sounds like my options from CBR are risk bus/ skyliner to HS. Or paid ride to BW and walk over. Hmmm. Well my trip is still several week away so I have lots of time to decide and see if anything changes between now and then.

I will experience this first hand tomorrow, but I am curious - what kind of reactions (celebratory or disappointed) are people seeing in those few seconds after 10am and 2pm when people are either successful or unsuccessful at getting a boarding group? Any good stories out there?

A paid ride to Boardwalk won't necessarily get you in. Only those staying there or with ADRs are supposed to be allowed to visit resorts. PPs presumably had ADRs for Trattoria. If you don't want to risk bus/skyliner, you can get a paid ride to HS itself. Just don't get there before the parking lot opens.

Others have also reported getting dropped off at Swan - no ADR's necessary or the Speedway gas station near the boardwalk hotel. I definitely wouldn't rely on the free disney transport to get you to HS for the boarding group. You would probably be successful, but, seems risky according to others. I'd rather not sweat it out, personally.

I am confused on a point about joining the RoTR boarding group.
I remember reading comments that you don't need to select all the members of your group any longer, but I have started practicing a couple days ago on my upcoming trip and after I click join it is just me and the other 4 in my party unchecked and I have to check them. Is this correct or is there a way to fix this?

When you're actually in the park, all those scanned into the park will be automatically checked. When practicing from home, since you're not scanned into the park it doesn't check everyone.

Edited to add: So when you're practicing at home, skip checking everyone in your list (to simulate not having to do it in the park).
