Huh - maybe just lucky, but I set an alarm and did a practice run this AM - got right in, first try

Not sure how I feel about that. I wonder if the BG's are going faster because so many people are "practicing"? FWIW - jumped right back out to free up the BG I had secured.

No you can't even get a BG if you are not in HS or had already entered HS before attempting to Join the VQ.

And a reminder for those practicing from home make sure that you use a cellular connection and not Wi-Fi to make it as real an experience as possible.

First make sure that you have the latest version of the MDE app, it was updated yesterday. The latest is 6.2.0. Also when was the last time you restarted you iPhone?

Next practice before 10 AM or while waiting for 2 PM. You can press the "Join" button or the "Check Status" link on the Home screen or the "Virtual Queues" button on the "More" screen. Let us know if your app still crashes when pressing these buttons.

Oh gosh, I don't know. I'm an Android gal. DH's phone is also Android.

I wonder if it's the app version? Do you have the latest one? We had to update DH's a day or two ago (yesterday?) because his app didn't work either when he gave the 10 a.m. a run. When he tried the 2 pm after the update, it worked. Adult DD has an iPhone 6SE but she wasn't around to try this morning, I had her download the app recently, so that part seemed to work but she hasn't tried the VQ at all (we leave in 8 days).

BG can't go faster when people practice and are not there, this has been discussed in the past already. You didn't secure any bg because you didn't get a number

If only your current party is listed on your friends list, you can choose select all at the top of your party list and that will save you some time.

Yes "Select All" is the first selection box. It can be a good option or a bad option depending on how many names appear on your list. For example if you chose "Select All" and some members of your list have not entered HS then the next screen will stop you from completing until you fix the list.

Thanks for your replies, I must've totally missed that. Unfortunately it won't work because I have a few on my list that will be on this trip and not entering HS (also others not on this trip). Thankfully though, the two that will be on the trip have a last name that starts with "W" and I switched everyone else not going to start with "Z" so my party is at the top. I've noticed this definitely helps. I would've had a BG today despite the short window.

why is it that every morning i look at the clock at 9:45 AM from work and say 'OH I NEED TO PRACTICE FOR A BOARDING GROUP" and then the next time i look at the clock it's 10:20.
guess this morning would've been rough to practice for the first time since it seemed to fill in 15 seconds.

we arrive in 30 days so plenty of time to get some practice runs in.

guess i'll just have to start setting alarms for 9:59 and 1:59 every day.

Thanks for the explanation and sorry to go over old ground - at what point do you have a BG? Once you pick and submit your party? Could you get to that screen and then still get beat out by others with faster fingers? Not sure what good it does to practice if that's the case (maybe it doesn't?).

After picking your family and hitting join you get a bg number. There have been instances of not getting one since they go so fast. Practicing just gives you an idea on what to expect in terms of sequence of pages

if you are practicing from home, you would get a message after a few steps that says something along the lines of 'it appears you are not in the park' but that would've meant that you would've gotten a boarding group and your practice was successful.

if you get through the steps and it says 'boarding groups are full at this time' your attempt would've failed.

i haven't had the opportunity to practice yet so i am just going off of what i have read over the numerous pages in this thread.

Too funny I was having that same problem and that's exactly what I did to rectify.

Tried accessing both via "join" "check status" and the three bars menu to virtual queues. It still just crashes the app every time I try even now.

Okay... is it a bad sign of disney obsession that I am seriously considering going to best buy on my lunch break and buying a new iphone?

The MDE app for Apple requires iOS 12.0 which you have and you can also verify that the app supports your specific iPhone by going to the App Store on your iPhone.

Search for "My Disney Experience" when the search returns matches, Click on the screen shots under the My Disney Experience, don't click on the "Open" button. Scroll down the screen until you see the "Information" section. Look for the "Compatibility" and it will show that your iPhone is compatible.

Before you make a dash for Best Buy try deleting the app and re-downloading it from the Apple App Store and test again.

I bought a new iPhone just before a Disney trip when you could start getting FPs on your phone.

The good news here is that you still have time since it would be much worse if you were standing in GE on your HS day and hitting this issue while trying to get a Boarding Group.

One more thing to try before running out to upgrade your iPhone. If you have memory hungry apps like FB or IG running go ahead and force quit them before opening MDE and trying the VQ button.

Also there are some rather lower cost iPhone options out there vs an iPhone 11/Pro/Max, the cheapest might be the iPhone SE 2020 version. It is the same as an iPhone 8 in size and uses Touch vs FaceID on the X and later but has the speed of an iPhone 11 and will support the new iOS 14 this fall.
