yesterday was very crowded. I find it hard to believe the actual was a 4
The ride wait times compared to Presidents’ Day week and Mardi Gras week were significantly lower, so either a 4 in today’s term is still very crowded or yesterday had a lot more people in the park that weren’t riding rides.

FWIW, the highest regular BG ever called was 133 (1/19/2020).

Also not sure of your date, but it's hard to compare dates if they aren't the same # of park hours. Early Jan had a lot of 13-15 hour park days, vs the 12-12.5 since early Feb.

I tend to look at BG per hour if I'm comparing two periods of time with different park hours.
Your correct- I went back and found my photo- it was the 17th. Still feel like giving out 60 BG’s a day is a far cry from 133.

They are giving out more than 60 BGs in a day. There are just less guaranteed BGs being issued. I heard of someone yesterday whose BG was greater than 130.

I'm curious, does day of the week have any bearing on ease of getting a BG? Like if our DHS day is a Thursday vs a Saturday?

Also have there been any rumors about when the BG system might end? I'm slightly worried about the possibility of them switching it to FP+ right before our trip this summer!

I've looked at the 'data' that way and what you generally find is that you can pick out a few days that suggest some sort of trend (in your example, if BGs go faster on Saturdays than Thursdays) but then you find other days which run contrary to whatever trend the other set of dates was suggesting - so ultimately my take is there are just too many variables involved between crowd seasons, ride performance, whatever they are doing behind the scenes with the BG count, etc to draw any conclusions from anything.

So long as BGs last more than 1-2 minutes, it doesn't really matter all that much, in my opinion.

No rumors on FPs.

No rumors on when the switch will happen but im in the belief that the attraction needs to be consistent for at least 2 months before considering a switch, also if fp will be activated i think they will do it only 30 days out to give an opportunity to off site and local ap at the beginning

She would have to have a BG to actually get in the line. They wouldn’t have a mechanism for then not letting her ride, so if they allowed that suddenly lots of people without boarding groups would want to just wait in line and not ride, if you get my drift :)

Oh, I totally get your drift, and that's what I had figured. We have to do the same thing with the FP+, too. But while I think most people are a little more understanding of a non-rider grabbing a FP+, I think some people would scream bloody murder of grabbing a BG for a non-rider, so I was hoping there could be some kind of system ("non-rider in BG15; marked on MagicBand" or something like that).

I suspect our circumstances are rare enough, though; I know we caught a CM off-guard by saying "non-rider" at Star Tours, whereas "bigger" rides with longer waits probably don't surprise them as much. I think I'll just plant her in a nearby gift shop. :)

Got BG 3 today. Arrived at 6am. 2nd at tapstiles. Went to mfsr. One of first people on ride. Once again seemed like most of the super early crowd went to mmrr. Pretty crowded today. Wait times really high. But with rope drop, early bg, 3 regular FP’s plus an extra anytime one and walking right onto rnrrc after it had been down for a while, we’ve rode most everything by 1pm

for bg used data, hit find out more after counting to 1 when clock hit 8. Button was red and I clicked right through. I got great bg’s both our days and was really prepared on what to do but it was still stressful!!

we are leaving this afternoon. Good luck to everyone with trips coming up!!

I agree that ride stability is likely the primary driver for using BGs, and it still goes down somewhat often. In addition, there have been other moves that might give a hint a Disney's BG plans. While just speculation on my part, I think the fact that EMH has been moved to evenings through August, and CM blackouts have been extended through the end of May seem to indicate that Disney isn't planning to stop using boarding groups any time soon.

I started to read the Boarding group thread, but its almost 700 posts long, so I decided to ask for help. We head to HS mid week and I'm looking for the current best practice for getting a boarding group. There are 3 of us and we all have My Disney experience app and our friends and family are linked. What do I need to know for the most luck in getting a boarding group?

With apologies, merged you into the big thread you didn’t want to read. 😇

There is no need to read the whole thread. Post 1 covers everything you need to know. Read a few pages back from here just to get a feel for the latest things people are discussing - lots of people post their daily experiences. Then ask any questions you may have. We’re nice and mostly helpful people here and people are usually more than happy to share their tips.

Not a good day for the ride. Was at 40 for a while, now they just have a line through the now boarding

Feels like whenever they have a run of good days and you think maybe they got it figured out a clunker of a day happens. Hopefully they can salvage the day (maybe extend the park closing by and hour like they did on Presidents Day?) - at the very least minimize negative impact to tomorrow

Today is an EMH day, so don't see them doing that
