How on earth are you guys knowing down to the second?? All I can see is when my phone clicks over to 7:00 from 6:59, unless I trying to count 1-Mississippi 2-Mississippi 3-Mississippi in my head after 6:59 lol!

I also noticed that when I first open the app in the am it takes quite a few seconds (I never actually timed it- same issue with how many seconds it is exactly as I just asked- but it feels like a long time when I’m waiting impatiently. ) Then I see it automatically logs me in, which takes another couple of seconds. So I’m definitely not planning to completely open the app for the first time at 7:00. Practicing from home I’ve had good luck sitting on the main page, and clicking find out more right when the clock changes to 7:00. I’m sure in my real day it won’t go as smoothly though haha.

We had a watch available to monitor the timing of every step... for science :)
Takes me roughly 5 seconds to open the app and get to the main screen.. I like the idea of timing it at about 2-3 seconds from 7am. I have had similar luck with the app already open and pressing “find out more” at 7:00:02, so probably no difference with those two techniques. Of course this is just practicing from home, the real test comes next week!

So we are heading there next week and I have 3 extra people in my family and friends. The problem is I can't remove them because we are all going to Food and Wine festival in October and I already have our hotel reservations that they are tied to. So the app won't let me delete them. I have read about people creating another account with another email but do you have to link everyones tickets and your reservation to this new account? I am assuming so but wanted to check.

You never know, I just checked and you can still get a backup today at 9:16 am with a 7:00 opening. I agree it’s iffy, but worth a shot!

Thanks for giving me hope -- "Rebellions are built on hope."

I will give it a shot regardless. I have some FastPasses for DHS. My plan is to start at DHS and try to get a BG for RotR, then ride RnR coaster and maybe a couple of other rides. Then I'll take the Skyliner (haven't ridden it yet) to EPCOT for the Festival of the Arts and to check out the new movies in Canada, The Land, and the Beauty and the Beast sing-along. Then I'll hop back to DHS for an Oga's reservation and other FastPass reservations. If I'm lucky I'll get to ride RotR, but I'll still have a fun day either way. I may also hop back to EPCOT again when DHS closes for the EPCOT Forever show

I don't know how people at the parks are doing it, but on my Android phone, you go to the Clock app and change settings to "display seconds." However, this doesn't mean that the seconds are displayed on the main menu of the phone, just that the clock app itself displays the time in seconds. At the parks, I would have my clock app open, displaying the seconds, then switch over to the main screen and tap into DMX at 5 or 6 seconds before opening time. Helpful? Perhaps an iPhone user will help out here as well.

Edited for clarification: "main screen" = the home screen of the phone, not the main screen of MDX

Pop bus stop at 5:30. In the park around 6:20. Back to TSL. Had a moment of frustration when neither my husband nor I could get a boarding group while everyone around us was cheering. I was finally successful after getting out of the app and going back in about 5 times. Boarding group 87. Backups start at 88. Had about a 15 minute wait for Slinky Dog. Loved it.

The new DHS opening hours posted for February are a bummer for me. I am coming to FL for work and taking the first flight down on my travel day to visit the parks. I will arrive at DHS around 9:30am. When the opening time was 9:00 I had a chance of getting a backup BG, but with the park opening at 8:00 it's probably not going to happen.

Yes, it might work out after all. It is currently 9:33 and Backups are still available.

I’ve heard that launching the app right at 7am is a good technique.

When I launch the app, it always takes 12 seconds to load.

Is that normal?

Should I be launching the app 12 seconds before 7? Or not worry about it?

Now that the reg BGs are gone in a minute, I guess every second counts!

from home I have tried
Launching at 7am on the bg page in about 15 seconds
launching before 7am, waiting until 7 and hitting find out more, for me, this tends to take a bit longer
But in both cases I finish the test within a minute

I think it's safe to say RotR is not a "morning attraction" :D consistently starts up and consistently goes down after one or two hours of operation, maybe it needs to talk to The Mummy over at Universal and get it IT'S CUP OF COFFEE!!

side note - feels like Disney is missing an opportunity by not having "Ronto Roasters" have their own signature coffee blend available ... maybe that could help out RotR in the morning

For iPhones you can look at the clock app itself on the home screen of your phone. It actually has the second hand on it moving around the clock. That’s how I know when it is 10 sec till 7

Be there next week... so excited... !!! Should I use bus to get there or Lyft? I want to be there at the head of the line for rope drop to MF and getting BG to Rise. Probably know the answer but thought I would ask anyway????

if it is consistently taking 12 seconds, I would try to start it about 10 seconds before it hits 7am

That is going to be my plan - I knwo I will freak out / stress that the app will take too long to load so I will launch it at about 6:59:30 and hope for the best!

If you want to get there really early, like 2 hours or more before opening, then Lyft is the best, and Lyft is probably a bit "safer" route. But I think it is still pretty reliable if you get to the bus stop like 1.5 hours before opening you should get on the first bus from that resort and be fit to be "towards" the front of the rope drop crowd but likely not the "very front"

Another question I had is how successful people with large groups have been? We will be going with a group of 6. Anyone have experience getting an early group with a large party? I know that gives us 6 users all trying to get an early BG, but also means having to grab a BG with 6 open slots..

You could also set an alarm on your phone to go off at 6:59:50 (if 10 seconds is the optimal time now) and go with that.
I just looked around to see if there's an app that will display the time in seconds on the status bar on an Android phone and cannot find one.

Edit: Actually, you can't do that on my phone, so forget I mentioned this!

I’d try both.

I know an Instagrammer I follow was having trouble getting I think an Uber from the GF yesterday morning and the bus ended up coming before one finally arrived for them.

thank you so much for posting this. I just changed a 345pm SDD FP+ to 850AM (8AM open) and another 1150AM SDD on 2/14 to 830AM. This really helps tighten up our schedule and increases the odds we get a RnR and ToT FP for our 10 year old! Thank you so much. Hoping this karma follows you to your RotR attempts!

That's so awesome!! I'm so glad you were able to move it up! These boards have been so helpful for me so I'm glad I was able to even pass a little of that on! Have a wonderful trip and good luck on your BG number. Sending good vibes everyone's way!
