Hey everyone,
Just wondering how using the digital cameras work in the sunlight.....meaning, if you are taking a picture and the sun is shining directly above you...are you able to see the little screen on the camera while taking the picture....I know with my camcorder it is hard to see the screen with that bright sun when I have it folded out.....and I am just wondering if using these cameras are pretty easy to see while taking the pics or what.....hope that is not a stupid question just wondering before I buy one....thanks guys.

Not a stupid question at all. I have a really hard time seeing the LCD display at Disney because it is so bright. Well, that and the fact that Canon was silly enough to make the area around the LCD mirrored. So, my general method is to take the pics looking through the actual viewfinder (gasp! I hate doing this) and then head for shade or at the very least using my hand as some manmade shade to see if the pic came out. Hope that answers your question...

ETA: I jsut re-read and saw you were looking to buy one. I love my Canon A75, but my only complaint is the mirrored surface around the LCD display. I'm pretty sure they got rid of it on later models though. I wouldn't hesistate to buy one, just try and get one without the mirrored surface.

Unfortunately the glare on LCDs is one of my complaints on digital anything too. Get a camera with a viewfinder and during those sunny days use the viewfinder.

Also, if you're taking pics during sunny and bright days, make sure you know where the position of the sun is relative to your subject. Try to keep the sun behind you when taking pictures. If the sun is right in front of you and your subject is between you and the sun, use the flash!

I didn't have too much trouble with my Kodak digital camera in December that I remember. I think I had to cup the sides everyonce and a while but it was no biggie. But all I was doing was making sure the picture was centered and everyone's eyes were open. If you're looking to do something more involved you may have a little more trouble, but I wouldn't think so. It could also depend on the type of camera you have, not all digital cameras are made equal!
