When I went to Home Depot, I found 2 shades of green Mickey heads that seemed close to what I think of as lime green: Alien Green and Sonic Boom. Which color does everyone else use for their DIS symbol?

:cutie: (Yes, I know I am being perfectly silly, and I just don't care!)

You're not being silly at all, there actually is a designated color. Since there aren't any other groups out there using Sonic Boom, however, I would bet that you're going to get the same reaction out of both (Now I'm picturing a few DISer's pausing, looking at your paint chip, and then shaking their heads and saying, "For a second I thought that was a fellow DISboarder, but that paint chip is Sonic Boom so I must be wrong.")--but the "official" chip is the Alien Green one.

:lmao:

(laughing so hard I'm crying)

Can someone tell me how much these paint chip samples of the alien green Mickey head are?

They are free, as they are simply a paint chip in the paint chip area. :)

However, it seems that some Home Depots are starting to discontinue them (or maybe Behr is), perhaps because people snag 30+ paint chips of ONE color at a time. :upsidedow

I personally only snag 3 at a time. And always grab a few other colors at the same time.

So I might have a blue paint chip somewhere, or orange, or yellow...wonder what reaction I'll get from other Dis'ers who might see me? :rotfl:

I actually have colors other than Alien Green, too.
On our last Disney trip, I used the paint samples on our checked luggage.

When you watch 1,943 other black bags come down the chute....and then mine comes down with a bright red Mickey Head, I know right away that it's my bag:banana:

Any one know what other groups colors are? Just curious.

I also have some of the other colors. I am bringing an orange with blue on the back as orange is my nieces' favorite color and blue is mine.

Like the idea of using them on the luggage. More people are tying ribbons on their luggage now-harder to find mine.

My husband and I were at Home Depot the other day at Customer Service and all I could think about was the fact that I was 20 feet away from the green Mickeys. He told me to focus on the reason we were there and THEN I could go get some more paint chips. I kept thinking "what if other people come and take them all?". So far that hasn't happened.

I had a great idea the other day. DD and I were doing shrinky dinks and we did some using the green Mickey head. We punched little holes in his ear and now we have zipper pulls, earrings, charms, keychains, you name it. :)

If the dog would just sit still he would get one on his collar too!

Do you grab the other colors because you want to use them or to throw other people off? I feel like I have to pretend that I'm shopping for paint. I put on a little act. "I think we'll try this shade of Alien Green for the baby's room. I should probaly take a couple of samples in case I lose this one. No, I don't want to buy the paint today, I should think about it first." :rolleyes1

Just curious...how do you attach these on your luggage or on anything, for that matter. Do you cut out the "Mickey" shape or leave it as is? Also, do you punch a hole in it and attach a ribbon to it so you can hang it onto something? Just looking for ideas of how to attach them to something.

I cut my mickey out from the background it comes attached to. I punched a hole in it, wrote my sign on name, slapped some stickers on it, laminated it with some packing tape and put one of those ball keu chain things on it to attach to my backpack. Once I get back home I will put pictures up of mine.

This is a super idea! I never thought about laminating it to make it a little more durable and weather proof. Thanks for the idea. I can't wait to see a picture of it. Thanks again!

Actually, I've never heard of anyone else using them for anything.

I love the idea of having a rainbow of Mickey heads! I wonder what I could stick them on? :rainbow:

(I am thoroughly enjoying this thread!)

disneyscootergal- no, not perfectly silly..just very thorough.
I would have done the same thing standing there in the HD paint aisle.."Which green am I supposed to get?"

I love the idea of laminating it. I have red Mickey luggage so maybe I'll have to attach a lime green Mickey head so I can REALLY spot mine at the baggage claim.

I'm going to have to pick one of these up for our trip in Oct. I had no idea what everyone was talking about when they said green Mickey heads! Learn something new every day!

I wrote my screen name on mine, cut it out , and laminated it. I attached an adhesive pin back to it and pinned it to my backpack. I also have different colored ones as luggage tags on our luggage. Makes them easier to pick out on the conveyor belt. lol
