I wonder if there is long wait time if we RD and standby for SDMT first thing in the morning? Anyone has experience? Thanks!

No experience yet, but plan to try it this Friday and will post back our experience. I was just warned in a different thread that we'd be in line for
7dmt until almost lunchtime even if we're there at RD, so I'm getting worried. Hopefully, you'll get some responses from people who've tried it . . .

Went Thursday. They walked us to Hub then we took the path past the Rose Garden, Tea Cups and it dumped us right in the line outside the queue area which was not open yet. We were by no means in front of the pack going down Main Street but probably started out about 75th in line. The ride had not passed morning inspection with the brakes so they were not opening it. Many left to do other rides (EMH) so we ended up about 50th.

The ride did not open for 2 hours, in that time the line wrapped all the way around past Dumbo to Under the Sea. Once it opened it stayed consistently at 90 minutes all day. We had a FP+ for the afternoon (at that time it broke again) and we were able to return anytime we wanted. We loved it at night so I would do RD for daytime and FP+ for nighttime.

I think if you are there at rope drop you have a good chance of a very reasonable wait if it's open and ready to roll, it seemed that most were headed to Anna & Elsa and a small percentage headed everywhere else. Shortly after EMH hours had started Anna & Elsa were at 300 minutes!!!

You might want to also check out easywdw if you haven't already. Josh posted a walkthrough of his experience getting to mine train at rope drop. He had an hour wait, but that was on opening day, so maybe it will be slightly better now.

If you can walk fairly quick, then you'll be fine.

I went on opening day at Rope Drop. Walked straight there and was on in about 15-20 min. The line did build up fairly quick, so if you're a slow walker, idk how long their wait time was for those that arrived 5+ minutes behind me.

Being that was the opening day, I think now that even if you walk slow, you should be on the ride in a reasonable time. I don't think it's the case where if you don't run there you'll be waiting hours. You should be fine at RD.

I apologize about that other thread (and wrote a response to you there). I was definitely exaggerating for effect. I'm sorry for misleading you in any way.

No problem - sorry I took you so literally - and then spread that misunderstanding to this thread! Anyway, it's always good to hear that it's not as bad as you feared. :)
