Hmmm, that is a good question!
FWIW, I've had an RCI Weeks account for 20+ years from other, non-
DVC timeshare. When I deposit a week into the system it has a maximum of three years "shelf life" within the system. Those three years are defined as:
- 1 year before the check-in date of the week deposited
- 2 years beyond the week deposited rounded to the end of that month. (I deposit a "3rd week of August" and it is valid until 8/31 two years later.)
- I may, and have, paid to extend the deposit for years beyond the expiration that occurs 8/31 on the 2nd year after the specific travel dates of the deposited week.
@erionm, given that my deposit expires 8/31, I do not believe that RCI is, in general, based on calendar year. Rather, I think historically for RCI Weeks, that the system calendar revolves around the month of the travel week deposited.
That said, RCI Points, which is also available to DVC members, might use 12/31 for DVC deposits to make things easier/uniform for DVC specifically? Or is this something they do for other points mini-systems that use RCI Points, also? Examples of my word 'points mini-systems' would include: Hilton Grand Vacation Club (HGVC), Club Wyndham, Worldmark TravelShare, etc.
@letnes, I'd expect your DVC deposit should have a minimum of 2 years from the DVC UY you deposited. Given that not many have gone down this path until Covid hit ... you might want to phone DVC's Member Services to determine the exact expiration of your week unless you can fish that data from the RCI website portal through DVC? I bet it is there somewhere ...
