When we go to Disney, to maximize our points we, three adults, stay in a studio.

I had to deposit some points into RCI so now we have to use them. Can I book a studio room thru RCI for the three of us or do I have to book the one bedroom? The website says that the studio holds two.

Thanks in advance.

Studio sleeps 4. One queen and one full size sleeper sofa. You are fine with that room as long as it is not a place to lounge in because 3 adults is a lot in the space

Is it the same for the studios thru RCI? I want to stay at the Marlin at Taino Beach in the Bahamas. Has anyone stayed there?

If you are booking into an RCI destination, you should abide by the specific requirements of the destination resort. These requirement will vary from one property to another. It is not uncommon for timeshare studio units to be limited to 2-person occupancy.

I just checked RCI's website for The Marlin. Indeed, for three persons you would need to book the 1BR unit.

You'll need enough points for the unit size and "season" but you should be able to add to them if needed to get to a higher requirement.

I haven't seen it but have read about it. It's not highly rated (no RCI awards) but is pretty new. I saw no reviews or ratings on TUG, didn't look at TA.

I agree but I'd add it's not uncommon for the units to sleep more than listed with II. For example, most of the 1 BR units there actually sleep 6 instead of 4. In general though many if not most studios sleep 4 with 2 privately it's just that a lot only sleep 2. The other requirement you need to be careful about for MX and the Caribbean is the All Inclusive situation. Generally this is a bad idea as an exchange.

Thanks Dean.

Due to an illness we couldn't use our points so I dumped them into RCI. In hindsight, wished I had not. Now I have to use them 207 points before the end of 2014.

I can take two weeks end of July and first two weeks of August- so I have some flexibility. I just found out that the Marlin at Taino in the Bahamas won't accept back to back reservations so I can't book two weeks.

Now, I'm back to square one. I just need to use these points and I really want a beach vacation. Also, didn't want anything too far south due to airfare. I'm leaving from Philadelphia. I figured if I have to spend money on airfare, I might as well stay for two weeks since I have the vacation time.

My mother who is also going on this vacation is afraid for us to try the RCI properties in Mexico. She thinks she will get kidnapped.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

Maybe Aruba or Morritt's Grand Cayman or one of the FL beach options available would be considerations. There are back to back 1 BR units or studio then 1 BR at the Morritt's location.

Thanks again. Took your advice and booked two weeks at Morritts.

Great, sounds like a good choice given your current options. I realize you're not likely to take this route again but for others who may, the best options for such a situation is to decide early on several options that interest you and put in an ongoing search around the time of deposit.
