RCI Extra Vacations Insurance ??

DH is retiring this year and DD and I are planning a surprise gift of a trip to WDW in November. We have never went in November. A friend has offered to buy two weeks at the Vistana on the extra vacations list. This is a terrific deal but RCI does not sell cancellation insurance. The problem is that my mom is 87 and I don't want to risk anything that isn't cancellable at the at the last minute. We have had t cancel a trip in the past due to illness. Does anyone know if you can insure this type of booking? I checked insuremytrip.ca and it appeared that you had to buy the insurance before the non-cancellable period started. How would I do that if I hadn't done the booking? It almost is like which is first the chicken or the egg?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Perhaps you could check with carp in Quebec. We just purchased Non-Medical Insurance package (Cancellation/delay/baggage) with them for an upcoming cruise. As long as you purchase the insurance within 7 days of booking the vacation they will sell you coverage. We have also purchased medical insurance with them several times (and have filed two claims without incident) .
