Hi everyone!

I was looking at RCI's website and wanted to find a * villa for my family to arrive into in * 2011. We were looking to go in the * week. Every time I look on the website, there aren't any Disney resorts available at all, nevermind a *. We are looking to use our points to stay in * or *. Am I too late or do you think something will come up?

Any suggestions on how to get/use my points for a * at one of these resorts would be much much much appreciated!

Thanks!

You aren't *quite* too late, but we are getting there---there tend not to be too many deposits for less than five months prior to use. Check once each day, preferably mid- to late-afternoon. We're due for another deposit any day now. If you don't get what you want in the next month or so, it will be time to look to other (offsite) options.

Some details have been removed from the OP's post as those may be construed as a seeking trade or rental here on the boards which is not allowed.

General questions are fine though. :)

Krisy1301,

Given the mod's edits, I'd recommend taking this question to the Timeshare Users Group (TUG) site where this kind of discussion is welcomed. Link: http://www.tugbbs.com

It also depends on where your initial timeshare you are using for the trade is located. You need a strong trade to trade into Disney. I own Hawaii and was able to trade into BWV 11 months out. Since that time, the number of trades available has greatly decreased in general. I own a week, not points so it may be different. Also, if you are looking to come during Spring Break, I would not count on it. That is when a majority of people go so they don't have to pull their kids out of school.

with RCI points, you can't put in a search. so,you need to look everyday. Try at 7-8AM, or earlier. Most of the Spring weeks have been deposited in MAy and June and are taken--no one knows exactly what DVC will deposit in RCI, but usually, we have seen deposits at 10 months (the earliest you can book using pionts), then some more trickle in until about 7 months. At 5 months out, unless it is very off-season, your chances are not good. But, you are on equal footing with everyone else--the early bird gets the worm--so, something could show up--it is just more realiable at the 10 month mark. Thus, for Spring 2011, I would recommend booking a non-DVC resort, if you definitely want to go in 2011.
Also, you can't book DVC thru RCI if your underlying resort is within 50 miles of Orlando, even is it is points.

It also depends on where your initial timeshare you are using for the trade is located.
Not true in Points---except for the 50-mile radius restriction ldo mentions. Points are Points.

Since that time, the number of trades available has greatly decreased in general.
I don't think this is (entirely) true. At least part of the decrease in "available" deposits weeks-side is due to a lowering of trade power required to get back into DVC. I'm not sure quite how *far* it went down, but it was definitely noticeable. With lower trade power requirements, more people "see" the weeks, and they go faster.

the best approach is to decide what weeks and resorts are acceptable and start an ongoing search. Chances are less for 10-12 months or less out but for HI they do tend to come onboard all along. Make sure that you are looking for full weeks and pay attention to the start dates for given resorts (Fri, Sat or Sun usually).
