Looking into a resort in Cancun.......what is included in the RCI points exchange? Just the room? :confused3 The resort is listed as mandatory all inclusive. So is the all inclusive included in the points? Thanks for the help.

Just the room. Often the fees are high enough that you could get it for cash for the same without using DVC. You should investigate the quality, cost and what's included. I would suggest using the Timeshare Users Group reviews, I don't think tripadvisors is very good or accurate. For example, the Beach Palace fees range from around $2000 for two for low season to $3400 for peak season. $668 for each additional adult and $350 roughly for each child over 2 people. You do get $1500 to spend at the resort if you pay in advance so I guess it's not completely AI (The program includes all meals, beverages, on-site resort activities, non-motorized water sports and transportation from & to the airport.) To me, one of the best options is trying the local food and exploring through restaurants and that's esp true for Cancun.

Thanks for the feed back. I think we'll use our points towards something else.

The main point is to look at the variables and decide what's best for you and your points. The problem with general statements is they may not always apply to a given situation. AI in general really only work if the AI fits your situation perfectly, IMO, at least for a timeshare exchange. OTOH, resorts with optional AI and meal plans can be a very good deal but there are less and less of them it seems.

I exchanged for an all-inclusive for my niece's honeymoon. They paid the all-inclusive fee and it included everything except for cigarettes and souvenirs.

It was in Cancun. I believe it was the Ventura Spa or something like that. They loved it! :thumbsup2
