I hope I am posting in the right place. My MIL is part of Wyndham and banks in RCI. I mentioned to her that RCI and DVC were becoming involved and she started asking me questions which I had no answers to.

Can someone please give ma the "Dummies" version of what this means to her-if it does at all? Will she be able to book in DVC resorts?

No one really knows just yet, the details aren't yet available. For Wyndham specifically, keep an eye on this web site:

Folks will be posting what they learn there as soon as its known.

Brian-you are turning into my Dis Boards white knight:thumbsup2

Thank you!

We know a few more things this morning.

Inventory is available in both Points and Weeks.
There is no 1-in-N rule.
The $95 resort services fee for inbounds is still in place.

We don't yet know if Wyndham points deposits are strong enough to see DVC weeks or, if so, how big they have to be.

Hey Brian, I am just going to clarify some things so I can relay them to her. I have to be honest-she bought this thing and is kinda lost and I have little understanding of it.

When you say Points and weeks does that mean that some vacation clubs rent certain weeks that the owner chooses as their week and points (which I think is how she does it) means you go when you want but are charged different amounts of points depending on when you go?

I have no idea what the 1-in-N rule is, can you explain this please.

I am assuming that the $95 fee is for anyone who is using a resort from a different club then their own or is it standard for all rentals no matter?

And finally when you say strong enough-do you mean that it will cost a ton of points for Wyndham owners to rent in DVC?

Thank you again for you patience and all the information you have given:goodvibes .

RCI has two different exchanges: Points and Weeks. Most Wyndham owners do most of their exchanges on the Weeks side. You have to go through Plus Partners' nightly stays to get access to the Points side.

A 1-in-N rule is used by developers to increase tour traffic. Essentially, each RCI member can only exchange in once every N years. But, this doesn't apply to the Disney resorts (yet).

The $95 fee is particular to Disney, only at the WDW-area resorts, and only charged to inbound exchangers---renters or guests are not charged the fee. Very few resorts have such fees, and those that do charge them more or less because they are in enough demand that they can get away with it. The Manhattan Club in NYC is another.

"Strong enough"---yep, that's the idea. Remember: you aren't "renting", you are exchanging, and the exchange system tries to match like-for-like in exchange. It is possible that a Wyn FSP points deposit will never be sufficient to see DVC, no matter how large, but I personally don't think it is very likely.

Wow-you need a course when you buy these things!
