Looking for recs on a razor (or anything else) that helps with very sensitive skin. Every time I shave I get really bad, painful razor burn :sad2:!

I use my cream rinse as shaving cream. I have very sensitive skin and my cream rinse has no scent in it. My friend uses witch hazel on her legs after she shaves and sometimes antibiotic ointment. Keep the areas moist at all times, do not let your skin get dry-use oil if you have to.

Eucerin Calming Cream - good stuff for any skin irritation

If you get razor burn under your arms, use Secrect deodorant that has the touch of olay in it. I haven't had a problem with razor burn under my arms sense I switched to using it.:goodvibes

For the bikini area, use bikini zone. It is a after shaving lotion that really does help preven the razor burn bumps.

The things we women have to worry about that men don't. Unfair!!!

Which bikini zone? There is a regular and medicated one :)

My friend used to get this all the time until I made 3 suggestions which seem to work, I've never had razor burn. #1, go WITH the grain and never against it or all you do is take off skin ouch. #2, Shave either in the tub or at the end of a hot shower when the bathroom is full of steam so there is no risk of goose pimply cold skin which will increase the chances of losing skin. #3, rub your legs with cream after so they don't get itchy. This particular friend was shaving her legs on a chair in room temp bathroom going up against the grain, not down & with it. I do my legs and underarms every day year round and just thinking about her method gives me the willies, I would be torn to ribbons too.

I shave with a cheap hair cream rinse.. Then after use diaper cream. That stuff is amazing and a jar last forever.

Deodorant can be used on bikini area to prevent irritation also.

Using witch hazel on your bikini area after shaving really does help with razor burn (just don't use rubbing alcohol...I made that mistake once and will never do that again:scared1:).

I agree with those that said to use a cheap hair conditioner on your legs when you shave, it really works great. Definatley make shaving the very last thing you do when you are finishing your shower.

*I uually shave my legs and underarms everyday (ok in the winter I may wait a bit longer for the legs) and change my razor every 2 or 3 shaves. I shave my bikini area as needed and always use a brand new razor for that.

x2!! I have extremely sensitive skin and this works like a charm!

For dry legs, I use Trader Joe's honey mango shave cream- it's incredible.

I've got all kinds of skin allergies/issues. I had to quit shaving anywhere with a regular razor. I am able to use my DH's old electic razor without problems on my legs. Go figure. I have not been able to shave my underarms for several years though. I developed a rash in both armpits that was all the way around my back. I was at the derm doctor weakly and nothing worked. I had to quit using any kind of deodorant and replace all my bras twice. We finally figured out that if I use only Dreft and no fabric softener on my bras it worked and I can use Almay stick deodorant/antipersp. I even tried the stone stuff and spray deodorants. I know if I get even the tiniest itch to stop the deodorant and start the steroid creams up.

Really, you might be getting a worse metal allergy or even an allergy to the little moisturiing strips they put on all the razors these days.

Best thing ever invented in the history of the world when it comes to soothing razor burn.

What do you use now to shave?? How OFTEN do you shave?

I agree, I use a cheap hair conditioner (Suave or whatever) to shave. It helps the razor glide easily over your legs. Also, ONLY shave in the tub or at the end of your shower. Having your legs very moist and warm helps tremendously.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to change my razors out more often, shave with conditioner and try the deoderant trick in the bikini area...do I do this before applying lotion and does any deoderant stick work? I have always shaved my legs upward will try downward next time :)
