RaySharpton Weekly Journal

I gained 3-lbs. this week. So much for all those Atkin's Endulge Candy Bars and Atkin's Advantage Decadent Chocolate bars and Atkin's Chocolate Ice Cream. I still stayed less than 20-grams of carbs per day, but I like chocolate to much.

So I'll hold off the Atkin's stuff for a while...lol.

I'm going to WDW for four nights after I get off work Monday morning. I'll be staying at thet $20.03 special DtD Courtyard by Marriott.

I'm going to eat Adkin's Diet way while I'm down there.

Congratulations to everyone that lost, maintained, are still trying to lose, like me.

Well I guess that I lose my 40-lb. clippie and I go back to my 35-lb. clippie.

God bless, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)

Don't fret Ray, you'll lose those 3 pounds again in no time!!

Did you ever find a pair of comfortable sandals?

I'll be looking forward to your journal entry once you return from your WDW trip..... we're going next month and I'm kind of dreading making food decisions while we're there.....

Keep up the good work!!!

Well, I just finished my 14th week on the Atkin's Diet and I just got back from WDW and I managed to eat low-carb the whole trip. When I finish my work stretch, I'll start posting my trip report wit what I ate and which restaurants and pictures at the Downtown Disney Courtyard by Marriott hotel special of $20.03 per night. I thought that with all the walking that I would have lost more weight. But I did only lose 7-lbs. my first month. Maybe this is another plateua.

Thank you Mskanga for posting these photos for me.

This first was taken in December, 2002 at the DIS-Con-II at WDW.

End of Week 15, lost 4-lbs. from 290 to 286 for total 42 lbs.. Another slow loss month.

I'm almost through with my reviews of eating at WDW, and then I'll post them.

The past several weeks I have been eating Atkin's chocolate 2-gram Endulge candy bars, and Atkin's 3-gram Advantage bars, and Atkin's 4-gram ice cream. I'm addicted to them now. I'm sure that I am overdoing it and it is slowing my weight loss. Oh well. At least I'm still staying 15-grams per day and not cheating.

God bless, best wishes, and encouragement to everyone trying so hard to lose, maintain, and getting back on the wagon.

RaySharpton:)

Keep it up, Ray.......

I'm cheering you on from my little corner. You've come so far in such a short time......

I hope that I can do as well.

RRay I haven't been around the WISH for a while..so I haven't been up on your progress....AWESOME DUDE....I'm so very proud of you....Your pic from Epcot really shows the progress......Keep it up.....

End of 16th week, lost 1-lb. from 286 to 285 for a total of 43-lbs.

I'm addicted to Atkin's 4-grams of carb ice cream and Russel Stovers sugar free pecan delights 2-grams of carb.

God bless, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)

I found Russell Stover's Orange Cremes, and boy- they're good!!

5 pieces are just 1 net carb.......

End of 17th week, lost 3-lbs. from 285 to 282 for a total of 46-lbs.

I'm addicted to Atkin's 4-grams of carb ice cream and Russel Stovers sugar free pecan delights 2-grams of carb.

I couldn't find my candy bars at the store, so I bought a gift box thinking that it would last a couple of weeks...nope...nada...never happened...I eventually ate one at a time yesterday until I ate the whole box and cheated after making 96 days cheat free.

God bless, best wishes, and encouragement, RaySharpton:)

Be strong Ray......

You will go ever onward and downward. One slip once in a while won't undo everything you've done.

You're still an inspiration to me.

Ray, I just read through your entire journal and I am so impressed!! You have really done well and you should be very proud of yourself! Your 45 lb clippie looks wonderful and I bet you feel so much better already!

Keep up the good work!!

Hey buddy!!! You are doing an OUTSTANDING job there. You look great. Keep this up, and the folks at Hoop de Doo will have to get you a smaller tutu this year!!!!!!!

Ray I'm sooo proud of you....I don't think you should give up your 96 day cheat free so quickly....how close were you to 14 days....and did you over indulge every 14 days....If not I think you should give your self some slack.....You have done an incredible thing losing these 45 lbs.....Don't let one bump get you off track....

Ray is amazing...

My husband lost 50 pounds on the Atkins diet in just under two months. He was living in another city at that time due to business, so he was living by himself. When he came back home he gained all the weight right back, and I think he weighs more than before (he won't tell me, but he had to buy new pants). The problem is that I find it very difficult to cook ala Atkiins for him because we're a family of four. I can't just feed the kids meat all the time. Also, that's a very expensive diet. Its not so bad time and cost wise for just one person but it just didn't work out for our family.

Does anyone know of any good cookbooks for the Atkins diet that allow it to be incorporated into a family's diet?

However, I should follow the Atkins diet with my husband. I broke a bone in my foot last May and had to have surgery. I'm still in a cast but able to walk now. Hopefully I won't need the cast when we go to WDW in December. However, while recuperating I gained about 25 pounds! Being inactive contributed to much of my weight gain. Also, we ate mostly convenience foods, take out, etc., which are loaded with calories. But I couldn't get out to shop or stand to cook (stand up, that is). so the combination of inactivity and bad diet led to my weight gain. I have a theory, nothing I've read, just my own thoughts. I think the longer one carries the extra pounds the harder it is to lose them. Just look at various cuts of beef. Some have most of the fat on the outside, while some cuts have fat marbled throughout. My guess is that the outside fat was put on first, then when the body ran out of room it had to put the excess fat somewhere so it began to "marble" it into the meat itself. Well, sounds like a rather far-fetched theory, but my feeling is the sooner one tries to lose the easier it will be because they're removing surface fat. If one waits until one is "well-marbled" it will be harder to remove that deeper imbedded fat.

Ok, I read my post over and it sounds a little ridiculous, but I'm going to post it anyways. Its 1 am and I'm a little tired and maybe a little slapstick!

I just read the above posts. Thank you very much. As you can see I have lost my 45 pound clippie.

And I've just restarted my diet....hopefully....

Time will tell.

This Saturday will be my 26th week, and a couple of days ago, I weighed 292 pounds.

It's so upsetting.

My new goals:

1. In 25 days, on Sunday evening, November 30, 2003, I will arrive at Walt Disney World and will start my vacation by watching the new Magic Kingdom Wishes fireworks. I will enjoy my vacation. And if I want a Mickey Mouse chocolate covered ice cream bar...I will eat one. But until then I will stick to my diet.

Goal #2. - On Saturday, November 29, 2003 I want to weigh at least 275 pounds and get my fifty pound clippie and lose at least seventeen pounds from now. Then I will only be 100 pounds from my goal of 175 pounds.

Goal #3. - Walk on the treadmill at least once everyday. I don't want to have to use an ECV at WDW. Especially at DIS meets. At least I won't hear what others say to me riding an ECV because I can't walk long distances.

Goal #4. - No Russell Stover Sugar-Free Pecan Delights that are made with pecans and caramel and covered in chocolate. No chocolate...period.

Goal #5. - No low carb ice cream or any ice cream...period.

Goal #6. - No Atkins products, just low carb foods.

Goal #7 - Eat as few carbs less than 15 carbs per day as possible.

Well that is about it.

I can definitely feel the twelve pounds that I put back on.

Three more days to weigh in for week #26, and 24 more days to lose 17 pounds for week #29.

I will be very disappointed if I don't do this.

Ray

Week 26, lost two pounds from 292 to 290. After 4-5 weeks of cheating with Atkins Bars, low carb chocolate and low carb ice cream that led to the real stuff of Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream...back to basics. No maltital chocolate and no glycerin ice cream and definitely none of the real stuff until I get to WDW.

Thre more weeks to lose 15 pounds to get to my new goal od 275 pounds, then I'll only be 100 pounds away from my goal of 175 pounds and a 50 pound clippie.

Ray:)

Great Job Ray!

Since you are trying to keep with the basics of low carb eating you may want to take a look at The KISS Guidelines . I've had some pretty good success following KISS in the past and I think I may follow it again during the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
:sunny:

Week #29. And tomorrow morning, I'll be driving to WDW for two weeks.

I'll follow low carb, but a few days I will enjoy myself.

Like a Mickey Mouse chocolate covered ice cream bar on MK Mainstreet.

Or the corn chouder(sp) soup and desserts at AKL Bomas.

And coucous, steamed vegetables, and chicken at Epcot Marrakesh restaurant.

And a tonga toast at the PR kona Cafe.

That's about it.

I'll eat low carb breakfasts every morning.

Counter service at WDW, like MK Pecos Bill with hamburger without the buns, but with a side bar of grilled mushrooms and salad, low carb at most other buffets, except at Ak Boma.

Oh...and I lost another 3 pounds this week for a total of 53 pounds.

I meet two of my goals before going to WDW.

I got my 50 pound clippie, and I reached 275 pounds. Which means that I have exactly 100 more pounds to lose before reaching my goal of 175 pounds.

Well...I just got off work. I need to post a few more times, finish packing, and then off to sleep...then wake up again at 5:00 P.M....work my 12 hours...come home ...shower...and drive straight to WDW. I should make it to WDW by 4:30 P.M. I'll be back on the 19th. I won't have internet access while I'm at WDW. So I won't be able to reply to my threads.

The "magic" is almost here.

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone at the WISHes DIS Meet at WDW tis Friday.

Ray :)
